Coming in as the shortest and lightest of the entire Montana-family of Keystone luxury fifth wheels this little 281CK finds a way to bring all the big full time RV'ing features into a more compact and easily managed space! Though still beyond the capacity of a half-ton pickup some properly equipped 3/4 ton pickups and nearly all 1-tons will find this well within their capacity!
It's an uncommon fifth wheel floor plan that certainly isn't for everybody. It's more of a "True couple's" model than you typically find. While it had a nicely disguised hide-a-bed for guests the layout most certainly lends itself to a more private style of camping!
Despite its smaller size though it "feels" anything BUT small with giant picture windows and a tall ceiling opening up the living area plus a large bedroom windshield (with blackout shade) make even the bedroom feel expansive!
The 2022 updates are easy to miss as in typical Montana RV Fashion they're discrete but impactful! Highlights include upgraded tires, an enhanced A/C system, updated slide system, and even a quieter water pump!!

This floorplan isn't for me BUT, I do wish there was an option or floorplan that offers a more residential breakfast counter for barstools. I could skip the booth, dinette or table and chairs if I had a barstoolable counter space for eating. Why not add a flipdown couter to the front of the island with room for the stools underneath? Just a thought.

Now I think that's a really smart 5W. I like that its smaller but as everything. Yeah the travel access sux for snacking but most people who own one of these can afford to grab a snack while on the road. Can I trim that bed down to a queen if I wanted? Do they make a flooorplan like this in a flat deck? Steps aren't my friends so I'm just curious.

In shopping for a retirement rv for two 2-3 month trips per year and some long weekends, our 1st love was the Montana 3791, especially storage space with the drop frame and RL with the fireplace, picture window and TV lift on the back wall and theater seats facing aft. But way too big for government campgrounds and general driving. Next fav was the 3120 as it was the shortest Montana with a King bed and RL. Still bigger than we want at 35'. We saw 2021 and really liked it! If we ordered one we would ask that they simply forget to install the sofa so we could put a pair high-back Lazy Boys in there. But watching the vid and seeing the access issue I would probably take a Sawzall and remove most of that kitchen cabinet to the right of the stove. We really prefer the U-shaped kitchen and wish more FW's had them: RV kitchen Islands are a major waste of floor space, nicer have more living than cooking area.

i like this one, has enough travel access for most part, can sleep, shit, and shower with slides in just eat pizza and beer from the store in bed for the night, can have small icechest or little fridge in there or in truck. 1200 watt solar for sure, couch is fine as it is, add foldable table, but idea of a couple of recliners and small desk in that spot is good idea, could even go one recliner and larger desk facing camp side and nice computer desk chair if single and alone like me... still place for 2 people to sit if a friend comes over, plus 2 more at counter.... nice computer chair just as good as most recliners anyway..... then you hook up a gaming computer with a 1600 watt power supply and drain your batteries in under an hour lol. for back wall, instead of making that a porch like toy hauler, keep it about the way it is, except put a door in it in middle, keeping windows, with external drop down porch, kinda result in toy hauler porch, but without actually opening the wall, just a door similar to front door.

They really nailed it imo. What is it with the sudden influx of shorter luxury 5th wheels with unusual layouts? Grand design has the Solitude 280RK in the works which is another attempt to cram a 35~37 foot 5th wheel into 32 feet of space. Cool to see something new in an industry that doesn't tend to change much. Oh really appreciate the better filtration on the ac system as someone with allergies that stuff makes a big difference.

I agree that the back wall needs something. It’s a shame that the slides keep you from being able to put something there. Glad that they made a 5th wheel that you can actually take to a campground and that isn’t 40 ft or longer. I think we’re going to have to special order to get what we want.

TY For the feedback. Keep in mind special ordering an RV isn't like building a house. Owners are not able to request major layout changes. MFGs only have specific options offered & almost never deviate from the plan unless it's the most minor of requests (and right now they're not doing even that in many cases)

This is really smart. I've been looking for a full-time RV but don't really want to buy something that's over 30ft as there are places you can't go with a rig that's any longer. I'm a single person who works on the road 90% of the time so I also don't need anything bigger. If you think about the demographics of this country, family sizes are shrinking so it's prudent to make nicer units in a smaller form factor. In fact, I wish Luxe or one of the luxury brands would start making smaller units. I'd certainly be interested in something like that.

I have a 21 377fl and we love it! The reliability of this trailer so far has been great. The ac keeps up in hot weather and the heatpump keeps us warm down in to the 40's. Wish ours came with the sailun tires from factory but we upgraded ours to them and went one size larger. Only thing I wish it had was a third axle.

I really like the length, but not at the cost of the road mode. But, now that the High Country has normal slide rams, I will be considering these models much more closely. I also noticed they ditched the dark color on the slide walls too. That just makes it look so much better. I wish that manufacturers would install a 12v outlet near the bed for us CPAP users. Trust me, when your EMS shuts down the power for 2 minutes in the middle of the night because of a spike, you still need constant power or you will wake up real fast choking. That's why I installed a plug on mine. Hopefully Montana is listening to that one!

This is a nice RV....my hubby & I walked through this last weekend. I've gotta say I am a bit shocked....I've never seen Josh take his hat off and lay it anywhere, so it really hit me the wrong way when I saw his hat laying strategically on the counter...perfectly covering a chunk that is missing from that counter edge......very disappointed. What happened to the I see something, I say something motto?? Things happen during shipping, etc and people understand, but that...that wasn't what I expected in this video or from Josh.

I love seeing Montana build a trailer at this size and the tank capacity it has. The living room seemed a bit awkward though. Maybe some sort of pull out table in front of the sofa. The bar style eating space tends to get used as counter space by us not leaving much room to actually eat a meal at.

Yeah a floating table is an easy thing to pick up to add some function. This model really leans on the dining bar but half the time we either eat outside or with a plate at the sofa anyway so I could make it work Everyone camps differently, though! I respect this one isn't for everybody! :)

Warranties aren’t an all or nothing thing. What it really boils down to is manufacturers will not cover work they didn’t do themselves. So if you paint the walls in the AC dies, their unrelated and you’re still good for your air conditioner

The slide's are the first thing I noticed FINALLY! on all montana's. personally im still not a fan of this one just a few inches could have changed the entire rear wall space like you said love or hate. I do like the hidden updates gonna have to get used too the new rims(I can always tell a montana from just the rims lol) glad they changed them up for all montana's. this unit isn't for me but a nice unit overall👍👍

Is it just me or is there a glaring lack of windows in this trailer? As for the sofa, I guarantee you that the vast majority of Montana customers would LOVE a reclining sofa or theater seating, but they are told instead that they have a quieter water pump🤣🤣🤣

@@stevez340 There's a giant picture window overlooking the seating on the camp side. You can see it right away when the video starts or even the thumbnail I don't really see where they could've put more windows in this one really

Really like the kitchen!!! Lots of storage in there, which I appreciate. And, yes, I too like the window by the sink and full backsplash. Like the updates that were made. And the bigger door!!! Yes!!! I love the idea that a lot of viewers recommended... the back deck!!! Yes!!! Love the solar options and batteries, etc.!!!!! And patio space. But nope....nope...nope....on the radius shower!!!! Ugh!!! And not a fan of those shelves next to the bed. Just give me nightstands, please. Is there storage under the chaise lounge? Very nice 5th wheel. I like the interior and the floor plan. Personally, I would not make a work space out of the bedroom cabinet. I would use the counter or bring a sturdy camping table.

You're having difficulty finding it because this model is no longer produced and likely isn't out there for you to find. The 2022 season was it's last run and have they've made any for months.

Since first seeing this Floorplan all I think it's missing is that same wood paneling they use on the ceiling of the Cougars on that bottom half of that rear wall. It just needs a dash of character to fill the void. Other than that. I would much rather save length and do without a sofa back there. Great video Josh as always!

I think that character could easily come from a little splash of color by the owner. That's one of the nice things about these more neutral decors -- they "shape up" pretty quickly and nicely with just a pillow or blanket thrown in

I would like to think the quality is better and they listen to consumers, but my 2016 quality sucks, I had to put slide liners under both large slide outs, replace my air conditioner, reweld a broken wall stud. My cheap Paper coated wood work is peeling. Try contacting them for anything they could care less, zero interest and support. RV industry one of the worst consumer goods you will ever buy.

The last two feet in the back seem so barren. I like the comments below about a fold out deck option. And I'm a single large sink person; hate the dual sinks. And not allowing an option for theater seats and maybe a mini-desk nook or pantry would make this much more desirable. And Josh's suggestion for some type of shelving in the bedroom that converts to a desk would really sell this as far a my wife might be concerned. Make the drawers go only halfway across. Need more flexible space options.

The super long couch position is in horrible because not only do you not know see what is literally going on just outside on your camper's side while siting down but this back entertainment area looks cheap, unappealing and simply boring; possibly a push out patio would work. The bedroom is great in every respect with a nice big window but it doesn't compensate for the lackluster rear. I do a lot of camping and the visual of nature and surrounding landscapes is very important.

I like your desk idea but why not have a pull out ledge the full size of the dresser counter top or two half-size ledges so you could use either one or both! It would give you a lot of options and a ton of desk space.

A transom window in the back of the bedroom slide would be nice, counter extension by the range, fireplace looks a little small. Rear wall could be a nice accent wall with shiplap or bead board and a small fold up end table.

One thing about Montana’s that my wife and I both dislike is they all have small bathrooms compared to some other models we have looked at for full timing. We both like a little extra space in the bathroom. One example is a Yukon bathroom

We love this new layout and I love the changes to the slide out mechanisms and nicer tires. Can you get one of these with like 400W of solar with lithium batteries and like a 2000W - 3000W inverter? Also, we are in Washington state but my wife says IF we buy one, she wants to buy it form Josh (cause she IS part of the NerdHerd)...and can you assess Washington state sales tax on the sale?

Is that sofa one piece? I like the lounge area but would like a theater seat instead of the actual sofa part. Yet I still want the lounge. I'm beginning to like the Montana, I never did before, but this one is really sweet! I wouldn't mind having one of these. I still want my little one for putting around in. I've looked at bigger RV'S that art layer out as well as this one is, the only draw back is having to climb the stairs whenever I have to use the restroom. Which is a lot because I'm on a diuretic. But outside that I really like it. Wish it had a camp kitchen but oh well I suppose I could just buy a Blackstone griddle and keep it in the outside storage area and a mini fridge as well.

@@crazycritterlady8788 So that big sofa in this is there because it's an odd-sized space. It's larger than a single sofa or dinette, but not large enough for a sofa AND dinette The hide-a-bed section is roughly the size of a theater seat. It can definitely fit.

1200w solar with 600ah of lithium with a 3k inverter would be a nice set up if it runs the ac in stand alone without the need for a generator or plug in. Without the ability to run the ac for 8 to 10 hours without the sun then its pretty much useless.
