Remind me when I had my first car. I took the throttle plate out of the Honda Civic DX single overhead cam engine and shaved the half that aims towards the intake air down to razor sharp, thinking I was some type of hot rodder. It was an automatic and the only other mods were holes drilled in the muffler.

Great idea! I have problem with dust with My Forza. When dust gets inside a bell - it make noise when accelerates. So this would be a great solution for my case, because I drive a lot on tracks on very dusty roads.

Great. Now your clutch is unbalanced. You need to rebalance the whole thing so there are no vibrations and this also would help longevity of the wheel bearings.

Hi Dave I have put a double bearing in my centrifugal and one in front is the third one that I have worn in 7 years. I have never encountered anything like that, such a thing crossed your mind, congratulations. Thank you

easy t ore-balance the bell..... to me this is a good idea. the least amount of clutch dust the better.. but the best part of this is the clutch lining will stay cooler as too will the bell.. it realy is a good improvement to the clutch.. not going to make it any faster but could make it last longer.. and if any water / moisture gets in it would be chucked out the slots straight away... well done mb

In thailand we modify CVT , there are many adaptations. But from the basics, you shouldn't adjust the rear clutch. Will improve only the front clutch angle😳

I sold in dales that these conversions there are too many I have this one the easiest and what better than it I thought I did it to leave dust better from the plate also you don't heat read it describes it I say everything there.

Not topic related, but why is the inside of the CVT Housing so Dirty / Black ? My scooter has the same „issue“ but I’ve seen that in many videos that’s not the case… does anyone know a reason why that might be ?

Hi TFS all this is greatly affected by dust there is nowhere for the dust to go that is why all this is done.

Here in the Phil. they make a hole/slot around the lining of the bell and put a groove on the lining as well for additional bite/grip, same concept with this one.

Hi jeremi happy new year, you say it right, but you have to measure so that the centrifugal force is open and the center of gravity is correct, i.e. the holes are well distributed.

I can say it's the same here in the massive island country just beneath yours. I use the same kind of bell with ventilation holes for the dust, just without the lining groove (eats up the clutch pads very quickly, not a good thing on a daily-ridden bike). Fixes the endemic vibration issue of Honda's PCX and Click bikes.

I think its better if you just buy an aftermarket bell, the idea is great but it could ruin the balance and integrity of the bell and damage parts, it could lead to unwanted accidents,

Hi Overcast yes it is the first solution that you can think of but I will buy it a new bell you have to buy new tambours and the bearings of the centrifugal and something high but with this they do a very good job with the six in the second if I got a new bell I would this very thing has not suffered the slightest damage so far

but the dust does not really escape. It just gets circulated more widely inside the outer cover (and onto the belt). Better solution. open cover and blow out dust (carefully) with compressed air. Wear a mask cuz it will be a nasty black cloud

Hi benzotekk this is your opinion how does it happen but even today we are working on this and everyone else when they get something new they pull hard and within 560,000 km I see the engine creaking shaking pulling hard I have been very happy for about two years doing this if I were to get a new one I would leave central we would do the same thing then I would put it on and first of all I have measured exactly I have also measured it on a dynamo to see if the bell is balanced correctly and everything is perfect don't worry

Hifabian yes, I've been having fun with it for a year and a half now that it's been doing this, it hasn't hurt the scooter in the slightest, it doesn't shake or anything, it's incredible, apart from that, I see a lot of negative comments, I don't know how they draw these conclusions, at least you've done it and it worked for you good!!

You do know that the clutch puts pressure on that bell? All you did was weaken the structure of the bell. With the pressure from the clutch you'd be luck if the didn't warp the bell. If you feel you need to do this a better option would've been holes on the lip of the bell. How much dust do you think accumulates in that bell from the clutch, when it already have holes in it? If you're getting excessive dust, get a better clutch.

​@@MBPATENTSThe tipical reaction of all technical illiterates, who think they make "improvements" to anything. You ask him if he tried the shitty "solution" to a non existent problem? No, nor him neither anybody else with little knowledge and common sense would try to weaken an critical part of a vehicle transmission, for no reason, using worst than empiric methods and techniques. Drilling and cutting that clutch bell didn't only weaken it but also unballanced it, which induces more vibrations into the transmission. The effect would be extensive, and the consequence would be the destruction of the clutch, which most probably would occur under full load, when you would ride the scooter at elevated speed. That would almost certainly cause an accident which would teach you a hard painful lesson, or it would be the last thing to happen to you in this world... You post videos of you making stupid things and don't need any advice from others? This proves stupidity comes almost always together with arrogance.

Just drill a hole where the clutch shoe will make contact instead of grinding. It helps remove the dust thus preventing it to slip

@@MBPATENTS multiple holes. Check the JVT brand or RS8 on how they drill holes on it or you can also check how indonesian modify their clutch bell. It is more safe and doesn’t affect the balance of the bell

Не совсем понятно в чем заключается улучшение? Отвод пыли в закрытом механизме что даёт? Меняются характеристики вала. Биение, нагрев в месте трения(так как тепло хуже отводится на край), риск перетирания ремня в верхней точке. Что улучшилось?

Hi Slavik так что вместе с пылью челюсти становятся несколько черными, на них появляется кожа, которая становится очень твердой, в результате чего после 30 000 километров скутер начинает трясти, по этой причине от пыли лучше избавиться, потому что пыль делает корка, которая нехороша, это сгоревший барабан

@@MBPATENTS это частицы ремня прикипают, с учётом того, что вал будет греться сильнее, прикипать будет больше. + будет биение на оси. Непонятно почему в отверстия должна попадать пыль? Он же вертикально стоит😊

@@MBPATENTS ни вверх ни вниз, ни в глубине души нет такого. Раз в 5-15 лет почистить нагар труда не составит. А вообще, 30000 это весь срок службы мопеда по российским меркам. Думаю ничего ты не проверял, к 60000 это уже металлолом.

I see, cutting the pads for better grip and the grooves to get rid of the dust.. either way you have to clean the entire thing every 5k km to avoid the oil seals from getting worn by dust.

Why? I've just replaced my PCX150 clutch bearings (defective batch from new), there was barely any dust after 8,000kms.

Hi gorsh in this case it doesn't affect the belt it just sits all centrifugal cleaner dust reason the more dust it holds in the harder it is to start the scooter shakes when starting after loving kilometers

It won't harm the belt. The clutch shoes grip the clutch bell. The belt has nothing to do with it😂😂

Нужно теперь проточить колокол на токарном станке,чтоб хоть немного добавить баланса. На скутерах Sym Joyride 200 кривой колокол с завода , но человек с токарным станком решает эту проблему. Подозреваю что такой же колокол стоит на Sym HD200 , всех лет выпуска...

if i had a lathe i would try to put a spiral groove like a thread on the inside, opposite of rotation direction to guide dust out of the bell and allow the shoe to burnish and maintain grip.

Do you know for what the clutch bell Jacket is there ? The outer ring weldet on the clutch bell ? My weldet spots are broken can i remove the outer ring and still use it ?

Hi Eugen if you glue it with electric welding it will go wrong it's not right if we glue it some tik with aragon will last but remember to know the points on the glue if they match good otherwise you can't put it on your own as it will be you will lose the centrifugal or else take a new one is not too expensive

Look How warped that clutch bell is when he spins it on the drill…. That will cause massive vibration during riding.. also the gear bearing will get destroyed with that kind of inbalance

Hi rajkap I'm interested in getting the dust out of there and keeping it clean, as a result of which the hub pads turn black from what dust when the scooter starts, it vibrates at the start is also a reason.

Hi canebro um den Staub von selbst besser zu reinigen, denn solange er funktioniert, bleibt er drin. Nach einigen Kilometern beginnt der Motor beim Starten zu zittern, und das ist auch sehr gut

Hi rodient logically gay holes are good I don't know somehow in what I do with the holes what is the difference but the tear does go away better dust one in the holes no one knows I haven't tried something similar because in the holes it will be on the drum I don't know how good is this after all everything is good

Eso es muy peligroso. A algunas motos les revienta la campana de embrague sin hacerles ninguna modificación. Prefiero que acumule polvo, y no perder rigidez estructural. A lo largo de los años, ya me explotó dos veces probándolo sin la tapa. La última me dió en el pié y lo tuve mal varios meses, además de romper un trozo del variador y el guardabarros delantero, quedando inservible todo el embrague. Si me da en la cara me hubiera matado. Precisamente llevo meses buscando la forma de reforzarla.

@@MBPATENTSвот имено надо отрегулировать грузики а не от пыли избавлятся чтоб колодки терлись и происходил чрезмерный износ их. у меня там пыли нет за 7 лет и колодки неизношены.и нет нагрева чашки

Is there any after market part such as this??? I don't think I ever seen one... Wonder if you could make the clutch pad to be replaceable as well... I wanna say concept but you already realised it. People are just so used to seeing a full blown shop with fancy tools and gears that they use and make it look "proper" while a guy in his garage doing the same thing if not better is just "jank". What I like the most about your videos is that you don't do fancy, you make it no bs no magic powder just doing what you know and showing it to the world! And that is respectable, not mentioning you give aspirations to a non mechanic guy like me to do my own stuff, experiment on things and if it didn't work, do it another way. To me that nurtures and broadens the minds for innovation even if the dang thing is 40-50 years old. Old tech can teach new mechanics new tricks! Also thanks for the links I'll go away and pester you no longer 👍🤟🤟🤟

DO NOT IMMITATE THIS GUY! He's just lucky. Many people got injured from exploding clutch bell. In most cases the user revved the engine very high in center stand and accidentally pull the rear brake abruptly. And that with standard unmodified clutch bell. With CVt ratio between 1:2,5 - 3, the clutch bell can spins close to 30.000 rpm!! Any imbalance and weakness in the clutch bell is a time bomb.

dust sits and sticks to the pads causing the dust to be burnt something that is not needed for this every scooter then when it starts it is like shaking this is all from the centrifugal this is the reason to clean a little more dust😉

I honestly don't fully agree with MBPATENTS' method of modifying the bell (the balancing is kinda jank), but at least I do have to agree with him on this one. The clutch bell on the Honda PCX somehow gathers dust up really quickly, and this leads to heavy vibration at the start of acceleration. It's been an issue with all PCXs for a very very long time now. I know because I daily ride a model that shares the same engine and transmission with the PCX.

El ingeniero de Honda que diseño esa campana de embrague se acaba de suicidar.... Como se puede ser tan ignorante en modificar un diseño tan preciso del sistema CVT.... Perforarla y cortarla ya hizo que quede desbalanceada.....

This is Unsafe Modification. Using Ballpen and a Tape to measure are already a bad idea the worst thing is using a Grinder is not precise method to balance the Clutch Bell or the Clutch shoe. Unbalance Parts lead to undesirable Vibration in CVT lead to serious damage from the parts or overtime it can lead Lossing Torque from the nuts. it can cause Explosion inside the CVT. The Stock Clutch Bell is go on serious safety measures from the manufacturer it self, Unsafe Modification can lead damage for the motor or serious injuries. Please purchase authorizatize OEM/Aftermaket product for your own safety.

You think it's not tested before I make a video, I spend 12 hours every day on the pcx, I do it every 100,000 kilometers in 5 years, I personally don't care what you say with your theory, you are very wrong. If you get new spare parts for the centrifugal jaws bell springs reach 100+ euros and this is a good solution, everyone knows it, I did something different and the experiment was successful. NO NO NO NO NO NO...DO NOT DO THIS. If dust was a problem Mr Honda would have created a solution. As others have said this will weaken and unbalance the clutch bell. This modification is at best unnecessary and at worst could cause damage to the scooter and rider should these wrecked parts fail..NO NO NO NO....
