Your improvisations are absolutely amazing. They literally sound like fully composed soundscapes that have taken years to make...

So happy to see you again, Kyle! Been practicing a lot in my new place, just moved in because my old home will be reconstructed soon. Sad to say goodbye, but a new journey begins ahead of me. Stay classy, Your Majesty. "May your heart be your guiding key."

I dont know if youre going to read this Kyle, but, You are the reason I have picked up the habit for piano again. I'm currently learning your arrangement of interstellar, its beautiful. I'm so glad I picked up Piano, I went from fur elise to basic interstellar in a week, and from there to the entirety of clocks played on 2 octaves in a few months after picking piano up again. Thank you.

hey kyle :D i currently have to compose my own piece as a project for my piano class, and i’m starting to realize that this is much harder than i anticipated and i am so curious as to how composers did it. it’s so fascinating to me. anywho, i just wanted to say that ur definitely inspiring me with my composition, and i can’t wait til i can actually present my piece to my classmates :).

it has a lot to do with emotions, what story are you trying to tell and what is the journey through it, if u hear a lot of music ( i recommend orchestral movie music) you start to get patterns, so you try to understand the associeted pattern with a given emotion or setup that the composer tried to achieve , i find studio ghibli joe hisaishi particullarly brilliant at projecting fundamental emotions and states through beautifully simple music, and try to replicate as much as you can. then when replication falls short of what you are trying to accomplish then starts your journey of creativity. Hope u find it helpful.

There's a lot to learn. It's good to be proficient in music theory, preferably start with Classical although that's a very difficult task for many. Understand intervals, melody (sequential) and harmony (concurrent/parallel), the gradual acceptance of dissonance over time (18-20th cen.), the rise of repetition due to modern consumerism, everlasting Eurocentrism complemented by the coexisting world music, atonality, etc. It's the technical and the social/human/historical aspects. Ultimately you want to discover your own unique mode of writing. This would be my personal advice to serious starters although I personally gave up on music a while back.
