International Music Summit took over the W Hollywood Hotel for their 5th annual IMS ENGAGE event. Featuring conversations between some of the biggest names in music - Lyor Cohen and Jake Udell, Chuck D and Seth Troxler, Kaskade and Stuart Price, Jason Strauss and David Grutman, and Quincy Jones and Pete Tong - the event was an unarguable success, providing never-before-heard insight and stories from titans of industry.
Today, the full length video of the legendary Quincy Jones in conversation with Pete Tong was released via IMS. The 60 minute conversation features Jones discussing everything from working with Michael Jackson and Ray Charles, to his opinion on present day DJs and producers, and dance music’s ability to survive musically.
“the summit essentially serves as a who’s who of EDM and a place to plot its future.” - Billboard
“I couldn’t help but ask Jones what he felt Jackson would think about the rise of EDM. ‘Are you kidding’ he said. ‘He’d love it.’” - Forbes

+Yasmin Boyer Indeed. Tong's knowledge of music is surprisingly limited really. He should stick to being a DJ

This guy interviewing Quincy is kind of "clueless". It's like he only 1/2 way did his homework on Quincy---AND Q had to "let him know" more than once! Hahaha. This guy was stuck on questions about MJ. This interview wasn't that interesting.

Wow Quincy had to correct Pete several times and I'm only 10 minutes into the video. Must have been really awkward to have such shallow knowledge, and incorrect research about one of the most distinguished music producers of all time!

Awful interviewer, he wasn't even listening to Q's answers. Knew nothing about his career, even the obvious MJ stuff.

Who is Pete Tong? What a waste. Had one of the greatest producers, composers, musicians of all time, and wasted the opportunity with the most inane questions. Unprepared, with not even the most basic knowledge of Q's career. Remind me never to recommend the music summit to anyone. Q tried to share some wisdom, but pete wasn't listening.

Pete doesn't look at Quincy's eyes. Typical conception of 'electronic music trendy people': "To bring big names but not necessarily to be worried with the content of the interview."
