I was at this race with my dad when I was 12. It was the first race I had ever been to and it was a life-changing experience. I’ve loved sports car racing ever since. Great memories and I can’t get enough of the Castrol Jag footage! Those cars were amazing.

Thank you for uploading this. My introduction to motorsport as a child was through my father being a corner worker during the 4 years running of the San Antonio Grand Prix. So lovely to see this footage of an era when motorsport was so hardcore. Pre-HANS device, no driver cooling, no sequential gearboxes, 80's computing power, aerodynamics, and tire technology... those men wrestled those machines to the limits of human physical capability in a way different than nowadays (not to discredit the drivers of today by any means). Love your comment regarding taking a hammer to the Porsche. Well those things wouldn't have become worth so much if they hadn't won races, and if that's what it takes to keep going then it all makes sense I suppose. : )

Its been a while since your last GTP upload but it's been worth the wait. Looking forward to the next one.

+King Greeny , thanks, man. I was actually kind of surprised when I found it. Sorry it's incomplete, it's probably one where I set the timer on the VCR and then ran out the door to go work my local track. It's got commercials in it..

+oldSCCAguy yah , I like watching the adverts, things are so different in the US compared to the UK. As a Sportscar fan I can't help but think that IMSA with the GTP division got most of it right when it came to racing and letting so many manufacturers have a chance of winning. The cars seem so watered down nowadays compared to the 80's and early 90's even if they are faster over a lap now!

+King Greeny , thing to remember is that IMSA GTP was actually our little attempt to run Group C cars, but the focus was upon sprint races instead of the endurance ones, simply because the sanctioning body thought shorter races would make them more money - not only at the track, but also on television! Most of these races were just 500km or so. Can you imagine something like the Mazda 787 or Merc C9 set up to run only 3hrs, instead of 6, or 12, or 24? Here in the US, we actually got that with older Gp.C cars. Turn up the wick, make the light a little brighter.
