BMW, Porsche, Ford, GM, Nissan, Jaguar, truly the heyday of American sportscar racing.

Davy Jones was one hell of a driver in his prime! And the uphill and backstraight remind a lot of Eau Rouge and Kemmel Straight at Spa. Awesome stuff!

I been saying that for years! People are always like "no! Eau Rouge or death!" and they don't even know that the corner they ACTUALLY love so much is Radillon - not Eau Rouge. For anyone who doesn't know what I'm talking about : Eau Rouge is just the little left - handed bit BEFORE you start turning right & climbing the hill... As soon as you start going right & up you're on Radillon - which translates into "steep hill" or "steep climb" in French..I don't remember and I don't speak French lol. But both Eau Rouge/Radillon and the "climbing esses" at Watkins Glen are both flat out, uphill, winding S turns leading into a long 200+mph straight - I'm glad I'm not the only one who saw the similarity 👍 Both Spa and Watkins Glen are AMAZING race tracks and 2 of the top 10 tracks in the world in my opinion and many others! Both in the mountains, lots of elevation change, built into the natural terrain, both extremely fast, both produce great racing, and both are lined with armco barrier almost the entire track. Both are longer tracks too - Spa is about 1km or 2/3rds of a mile longer roughly I think.

Todays IMSA cannot compare with this era of cars and the racing format of non multi class racing.

Those March-chassis cars were _really_ quick; both the Buick Hawk and the BMW GTP had about 950HP in race trim and the BMW had 1150HP in qualifying! Compare that to the 550HP of modern Daytona Prototypes, and you'll notice that modern prototypes aren't running at anything close to the limits of modern technology.

The Corvette GTP did 205 on the back stretch there too...

The Corvette GTP put on a great show of horsepower blowing by everybody on the backstraight, but fell out of contention when Van Der Merwe spun it coming out of turn 6.

The Bus Stop chicane is exciting - but so is watching these cars blast down the straight at 210mph and then rip off a 150mph turn at the end is pretty damn exciting too! It's extremely dangerous though, as proven by JD McDuffie (RIP), Tommy Kendall (broken legs) and anyone else who hit the barrier at 150 instead of making the turn... That wasn't good. It's better to keep the drivers alive, they have families and dead drivers can't entertain us with amazing passes and... Well... Crashing. People are entertained by crashing. We want them to crash safely though, if there was such a thing. Maybe a runoff area made of Jello.... Like 10ft tall and 20ft wide... I bet jello would be a GREAT crash barrier! I wish they could just put a million tires and create a super - safe barrier /runoff area and eliminate the bus stop chicane though.
