In Samoa its 2 hours with good stones..you start it from 8am every Sunday then by 11am everything is at the kitchen ready for the lunch at 12noon.. Why is it 15 hours? Is it because you have to dig a hole?? Do you do one thing at a time or do it simultaneously? Like 1) get stones, 2) get firewood, 3) dig hole, 4) wood and stones in, 5) light fire, 6) then you do the food??? Or do you do everything at the same time? One prepares food, one digs hole, one gets the firewood?? 15 hours is unreal...

No..... i think they actually let the food cook before they take it out.........Awesome job on the Imu....I like when you take the Lau Lau out of the pit and the fire still going........let you know the food is ready for your Opu

Luke McCalister. There's reasons why we(Hawaiians) cook our food this way. Yes the work is harder and yes the food Cooks longer BUT the QUALITY is better. That's the goal Hawaiians wanted to perfect is quality with quantity. that imu fed 300 people which is average. And they're cooking pork the last thing you want is uncooked pork 🤣🤣🤣.. anyways the average imu will cook about 8 hours but most Hawaiians just leave it overnight take it out in the morning eat all day. With no disrespect but the amount of food you guys cook I rather just BBQ

AUWE! I can hear our ancestors laughing ! The leaf blower was bad enough, and no canvas and dirt on top, BUT foil wrapped laulaus ? What's the point of the imu...no flavor went through the foil into the laulaua ?
