@jont2576 I actually used the term peace as an example to point out that the two sides have major disparities in defining many terms. Netanyahu once said that Israel indeed fulfilled the UN resolution to withdraw from "land" occupied by Israel in 1967 when it withdrew from Gaza and Jericho. Palestinians say that the UN resolution states that Israel has to withdraw from "THE land" it occupied in 1967. The word "THE" makes a big big big difference.

Well right after she resigned from office, Israel found peace with Egypt. Right after Israel and Egypt had gone to War with each other for the 3rd time. And that peace agreement has held ever since (even after Egypt went through a revolution). So Israel is technically closer to peace now than it was in 1969. I like to believe it is possible. It’ll take several more decades and it won’t be easy, but I like to be hopeful.

@@aseel8664 just that Pakistan was created out of parts of india around the same time in history. So no doubt many Indians then changed Their passports to Pakistani passports. There should be the same for Israel and Palestine - two separate states. Like India and Pakistan. They both need autonomy but unfortunately it appears that the Palestinians or at least Hamas want Israel destroyed and gone and that isn’t going to happen. The Jews biblically are the people of Israel and in ancient times it was Israel. They both have a claim and the only real solution is two separate states. They should get along because they share the same biblical roots as far as religion goes. All this drama around Palestine wanting it’s land back is like a child chucking it’s toys out of the cot because it doesn’t want to share its bedroom with a sibling because it wants all thee bedroom, but where does the sibling go then? Humanity needs to grow up. Emotions are high on both sides understandably though, so it’s going to need a lot of diplomatic intervention and currently the world is I think in shock, scared and not sure what to do for the best. Jews/ Israelis arnt evil and neither are Palestinians.

Golda Meir was very wrong because she overlooked a few things. She talks about mothers and grandmothers in other Arab countries wanting peace - that should not have been expected at least half a century ago because at that point in time, most of these women did not have any education or higher level thinking, unlike Israeli women who were highly educated even then. What we have seen so far is that Palestinians teaching their children to hate Israelis - just look at the pictures of children holding guns and attacking Israelis - that is enough to tell you that if today's children are being taught this at such a young age the conflict will only worsen for the next generation. Looking at the Israelis' side it seems quite clear that they are also leaning very much towards the right-wing side - they have elected a hardliner like Netanyahu who has made conditions bad for the Palestinians in the West Bank and really does not seem to have any interest in negotiation or establishing a semblance of peaceful relations with Palestine. Both sides are leaning towards extremist ideologies so, things will only get worse.

Actually the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians started in late 1947 before the attack of the 5 Arab armies which happened in 1948. The Palestinians ran away because the Haganah and far right militias such Lehi and the Irgun forced them out at gun and canon point. Of those 5 armies, the Jordanian one had no interest in destroying Israel, it just wanted to annex what is now the West Bank and reached a secret accord with the Israeli government.
