Real moral of the story: It only takes one person to screw everyone over. They caught the corrupt police now, but what about the future? Kiryu himself was able to reprogram the ai from outside the room, there's nothing stopping other hackers from doing the same. All you really need is one greedy employee to gain access to it. @General N00ne I find it quite annoying too because it takes more time to say what needs to be said and it lacks the nuance a real voice has, so basically you spend more time listening to the info yet only toward the end really understand how the uploader meant it, like only toward the end do you understand the nuance they wanted to convey. But let's turn around the narrative of laziness into a narrative of social media sites like tik-tok praying on people's dopamine systems. I'm pretty sure I have a very big dopamine disregation problem but nothing clinical i.e. nothing I was actually born with. I have all of the ADHD symptoms related to dopamine and none of the ADHD symptoms not related to it, roughly said, it's more complicated than that but that's roughly my case. I'm 25 and have been on the internet every day, more and more, since I was 14. I am in a weird middle position. Kind of makes me want to become a psychiatrist just to help those who are about 10-15 years younger than me and started when they were toddlers and literally do not know what life is like without this addiction. At least I remember from before I was 13-14.

In some cases, people are lucky and can find similar work or the new invention only helps but doesn't entirely take over your job: the doctors and nurses use the Hope software to enhance their work. Pretty much every iRobot / Detroit Become Human situation involving AI

Something similar happened to the horse/buggy industry when the automobile came about, and during industrialization in general. We gloss over it but people have had jobs that overnight were no longer required. The tricky part is it seems the skill requirement for entry in the new industries gets higher everytime we upgrade. Its would be difficult for a unemployed doctor to suddenly get 7+ years of training to switch from a medical to an AI/tech expert.

@@ejedwards1678 The point probably went over your head if you're comparing the skill gap between carriage boy and entry level factory work at the turn of the century to building something as complex as an artificial brain and quantum computing. Please do tell a doctor to suck it up for me if the opportunity presents itself EJ that'll show them 🤷.

Bombs break generators and AI machines. If the machine controls everything around you, then everything around you is the problem. If every tree is infected, you will have to burn down the entire forest. Smoke clears, every toy, tool and gadget society enjoyed is now dead junk. People will have to learn how to make fire again, after the cities are done burning. Then they will have to learn what they can eat, and what can eat them. Lather. Rise. Repeat. I am guessing that our current 'technic culture' is the third one to 'go global'. Two other global technic cultures have failed, leading to stories of Lost Kingdoms, Atlantis and all that... This has all happened before.

This kind of reminds me where my sister used to work. She worked for an energy trading company in Europe where the culture was super toxic. They kept calling themselves "family" but they had leaderboard for the amount of money traders used to make in every quarter. The bottom 10% (along with some other parameters) would always get fired.

This reminds me of a Japanese short film I watched a few years ago. A kid is living with his parents and he’s about to turn eight or something(I don’t remember the exact age). He notices that some of his classmates are acting like completely different people after their eighth birthday and that they suddenly started doing better in school. Also his parents are gone for long periods of time sometimes and won’t tell him where they’re going. He decides to follow them and comes across this big facility where kids are being raised. It turns out that basically in that world when women are pregnant the doctors replicate the embryo of every pregnant women so that there are two identical children born at the same time. The original child is raised in their respective families and the replicate is sent to a facility where they are raised, and the parents know and visit them sometimes. But the child do not know of the other’s existence and they are evaluated at every aspect of their lives, and at their eighth birthday whoever is scoring better survives and is either kept or moves in with their family. The main character’s replicate does better and he ends up being taken away to who knows where.
