6:54 seriously, it would be awesome if that thing actually happened. I would love the fact that all women can take breaks for 3 days in month with everyone knowing what is happening and everyone understanding each others pain. Also if that happens then we can find a mechanism to prevent important things happening on days with periods, like giving exams or having Olympic games. Unfortunately it is not a thing and we just happen to synchronise with only few people.
@aliahpersonous28933 жыл бұрын

@UC_Gbxv5F9j0lh-CMd7eLX7Q some women have really bad periods, and sometimes the symptoms/side effects are really bad even if they aren’t usually. Also, while nobody was comparing BPD with periods, that doesn’t mean they think their issues are worse than yours and I bet they’d want days off too if they had BPD.
@Ikajo2 жыл бұрын
@@aliahpersonous2893 The average period lasts 5-7 days. So, if you have a group of women, it is statistically likely that their cycles will naturally overlap. But that's not synchronisation. Say person 1 begins their period and bleeds for 7 days. Person 2 begins their period two days after person 1 and also bleeds for 7 days. Person 3 begins their period 5 days after person 2. So, they are not actually synchronising. Just overlapping. And the more people with periods in the same place over a prolonged period of time, the more it would overlap.

Interesting film but a few things to note: According to this plot, a woman would constantly become pregnant throughout her entire life. This means a single woman unless she takes something to end the pregnancies would be unable to do jobs that would require her to not be pregnant for the sake of the fetus. Additionally, having that many children would quickly overwhelm all infrastructure in place for humanity and the world would end up very very overpopulated. And finally, the lack of genetic diversity would lead to enormous portions of the population being wiped out very quickly regarding disease. Also, the entire premise of ending space exploration with such a rapidly expanding population, to "save the earth" is so downright laughable...its honestly bemusing.
@yungnachty44743 жыл бұрын
@Busy Bodies! Yes, jobs that are heavily demanding physically or that regularly result in people getting knocked about or engaging in other tasks...perhaps deep sea diving for months at a time where not only would the pregnancy itself strain the individual, other side effects like weight gain and fatigue would impair their ability to do jobs they could do if they were not pregnant. This isn't even considering the difference in bone and muscle density between men and women and that when a woman becomes sufficiently physically active she will actually stop menstruating, temporarily due to hormonal imbalance. Which would end the genetic lines of any woman doing hard manual labor or shrink it considerably, which would make genetic diversity even less. Also, prengnancy brain occurs when women become pregnant, in studies conducted, the grey matter responsible for socialization, cognition, memory and problem solving all shrink. So the world would become significantly dumber. Likely because a lot of nutrients that would go to a woman's brain instead is diverted to the fetus. Now have this happen indefinitely for their whole lives. It would be a health crisis of malnutrition.

This way of reproduction is actually possible as we know in biology. The thing that makes scenario imposible is the fact that a women or a men doesn't only need each other for reproduction. Nature is much more complex than this so I think I am glad that I am not going to extinct ^^
@tchoythao17303 жыл бұрын
Single parent reproduction is actually pretty bad for large populations. You’re essentially making a clone. This means that you only get one set of genes and that means that if one gets a disease, there isn’t a clear way to develop immunities.
@Helem5XG3 жыл бұрын
@@tchoythao1730 yep that will make the genepool soo small that a random desease can destroy millions of people just because the lack of genetic diversity
@phxcppdvlazi3 жыл бұрын
Correct. Species that do this usually do it as a last ditch attempt to save themselves. For example there was a flower that can only be pollinated by a certain species of bee. The bee went extinct so the flower species resorted to asexual reproduction. This is a death sentence for any species. Even single-cell organisms exchange genetic material in some way. Sexual reproduction, like aerobic metabolisms can be far superior (in the right conditions) to asexual reproduction and anaerobic metabolisms, respectively.
@user-ux9zm9il9r3 жыл бұрын
There is one exception to the extinction of secondarily asexual species, the bdelloid rotifers who gain genetic variation by fragmenting their DNA and picking up environmental DNA! If the premise of the film happened humans would definitely figure out how to introduce additional variation artificially well before we died out bc any trend towards extinction would be infinitesimally slow given how much we've mitigated a lot of evolutionary pressures in modern society and how massive our starting population is :p
@Mariet313 жыл бұрын

Edit: Fair points in the comments no going to lie (I was really tired so I had no freaking idea on what the hell I was saying)
@medexamtoolscom3 жыл бұрын
Yes, but it would take at least 1000 years for the genetic diversity to reach sufficiently low levels I think. All the women are producing clones of themselves after all, but that means if there are a lot of different women, that there will be a lot of genetically distinct individuals after 1 generation, and 2, and 3. It will take a long time, probably thousands of years, for the number of distinct DNA profiles to dwindle from billions to under a million let alone 1000.

@advena9963 жыл бұрын
So sexual reproduction recombines traits across generations (so you get different mixes and matches, so to speak), but ultimately mutations during cell replication is what's generating the diversity in the first place. That's how species that reproduce asexually manage to survive. So humanity might be able to survive with just that.

The biggest thing they think won't exist when men disappear is misogyny, they need to learn that women can be misogynistic as well. It's like they haven't heard of pick me girls
@MikeDoesRandomThings3 жыл бұрын
Hm... a number of questions come up. A lot in fact, here are some of them: -Premise is unusual, why would a number of woman all over suddenly develop this condition? Normally, big changes like this can take millions of years through evolution, yet this only happen in a few decades? -We must also take into account that since these woman are not conceiving via sexual means that problems can come in the picture via repetition. Lack of genetic diversity means that all it takes is for one pathogen to wipe them out and thats it. -If the women are reproducing asexually, then that means they are effectively giving birth to clones? So genetic defects over time become more and more prominent. Because men could potentially be extinct at that point there is no way to correct. -There is also no mention of the frequency of asexual, uncontrollable, births. Population would explode like mad, leading to shortage of resources. You'd have to shift to a very simplistic way of life to even try to sustain that. And even then, a controlled one. - Women have periods monthly, this implies that the women would become pregnant, possibly even as young as 12 to 14 years old or even a little younger. Wrap that around your head and see just how scary the situation is. Imagine as a father your 13 year old daughter is pregnant because of this sudden change! Now it happens every cycle! Eventually, all somatic cells that divide and reproduce can end up hitting certain point where their genetic code starts to deteriorate. So I am guessing that stem cells somehow curve or prevent that? I dunno, this is just a movie after all. But I don't think that men would take slavery lying down, they'd use their skill, knowledge, and physical abilities to their advantage in combat and survival situations. Movie is very interesting nonetheless, but I would love to see the reasoning behind its premise get more fleshed out.

With the gender joke aside, I genuinely wonder does this would actually work because of some reason: 1. World peace to me is practically impossible since different people has different views and some of them would contradict the others which would lead to direct confrontation that usually end up with a fight. This applies to all human not just men 2. If a woman would be pregnant every month, the world population would skyrocket resulting in decrease of resources, how would they manage that? 3. Imagine a girl at the age of 17 suddenly give birth to 5 daughters, how would they provide for such Numbers alone? Also even if you include other women help, they would have their own child to take care of 4. The movie premise was to take the dominant gender and reverse it, it may look like heaven for those women/LGBTQ people but, the main problem was the oppression. Sure the women kind has been oppressed for centuries in various history throughout the world but this single statement " Male population are on the verge of extinction" mean they are literally being oppressed to extinction. Now that's beyond gender inequality it was even Inhumane to do such thing. 5 The Best question I ever thought of: with all those women around with some of them with higher power and those below them, I wonder how much drama/backstabbing/crazy shit would happen? Also I've seen some crazy chick in my life and probably even more in the future but a world full of women might go down burning faster than this comment section about whatever this "Left wing" thing is

the issue with asexual reproduction is this limit genetic information to 1 parent, which slow the pace of evolution to be dependent entirely on mutation. we were all evolved from asexual creature, we only gain sexuality to have an advantage over other lifeform... and so dual sex lifeform became dominate. i do like the film for it social exploration, but as a biologist i would be concern for the future of humanity if this became true before we are capable of genetic manipulation, of course if we can create "designer babies" than evolution wouldn't be an issue... but we will have other issue as the rich become stronger and the poor become weaker... it a very darwinian subject.

I got mad when a girl said that women are perfect and all of them are saints until she got roasted by another girl who who showed pictures of criminal girls and saying no ones perfect. I also hate it when other men take advantage of weaker women its just straight up annoying.

It honestly feels like she treated her other children like they were somehow lesser after she got pregnant with his kid. It was obvious that she didn't have those feelings for Terra but it was still sad. I wish they could have all made it work together.

I remember believing as a young kid that women were just better for the environment. That they were just better friends, better listeners, cleaner, and all around just nicer. This was brainwashed into me from a young age. Of course, as time progressed I got over this and realized that women were not better or worse than men, just different. The directors of this movie seem to have failed to reach this level of maturity.

Oh my god as a girl this is the stupidest movie I've ever seen, when the thing about male privilege came for jobs I realized this was bs. Also I love how they showed that everyone in the world are together but I don't think we'll have friendly connections with every country, doesn't matter who run the world we'll still have some problems with some countries. The last one the procreation one, even men need women for that one reason nothing more that, I think we catch feelings that's why it is called love which is more than reproduction. Edit: the director nd writer is a male, he said he made it as a joke nd not to take seriously but he showed so many facts wrong nd if I see a movie about no world without women I will react the same way whether it is a joke or not.

@@plaidy. As a journeyman electrician now for 13 years, yes women do trade jobs, but the vast majority of the time they get the "easier" jobs to do within a trade. That doesn't require as much physical labor, just saying it how it is. I'm not one to hate women, but when women go on and on about how they don't need men I say otherwise.
