This was awesome. The downside of the internet and all these streaming services that movies like this are not talked about as much and fly under the radar when they're actually quite good. Thank you for putting it out there I will watch it definitely. To clarify: I was speaking to the fact that most major internet streaming services tend to feed you only what like. It guarantees a foothold in your customer and viewer loyalty. The algorithms do not really provide a steady variety because that's not as profitable. However that does not make the internet evil. And yes we are only able to hear about a lot of these movies because of independent internet users who upload this type of content and expose the viewer to different films.

The movie was full of political allusions. For example, in the scene where they leave the tent with a false, painted landscape and then walk along the seashore - Maks points out and says: "Direction - east. There must be some civilization there". Everyone in the cinema was laughing because it was obvious that there was the Soviet Union in the east and not any civilization. Censorship missed it initially. The movie was withdrawn from cinemas for a while and returned with the changed text "Direction - over there. There must be some civilization there".

A single-sex society is an allegory for communism where everyone is forced to think along the lines of the ruling group. Poles could not tell such a story directly at that time, due to the socialists who ruled their country, so they used an allegory.

An absolute classic, though I wouldn't be surprised if some things would be considered (not-so-harmless) stereotypes today. Anyway, the movie is really fun. It was quite bold for the time of its release (mind that nothing was censored in the actual film) and - like many s-f films and books released during that time - it contains a half-hidden critique of soviet totalitarian system (for even more direct critique, you should watch "Kingsajz").

I am highly recommending it. If you are from East Europe or have roots in that region, loves atom- or nuclearpunk, and are obsessed with the Fallout series (like me) then this movie is for you. The movie will certainly interest you if you like wacky actions scenes, witty dialogues & jokes filled with 70s eroticism then you will be a fan instantly. Or if you are just a classic hipster, a so-called cultured snobby schmuck who wants to flex about art and east European cinema culture in front of his/her family, friends or coworkers (to possibly drive them crazy) then this movie is a good material to add to your collection.
