Beautiful! One of the greatest songs ever recorded

Yup, that's it! Well done, not only with the tones, but nailing the various parts.

I see the glorious MXR Pitch Transposer ! One of the few working examples left in the world ! They are worth a small fortune !
@marshallheadkt663 жыл бұрын
Tell me about it... this is the only one of several that I have that works properly - and even at that, it drifts as it warms up. I have a Whammy V set up as an alternative that’s totally reliable (although a bit complicated to control) and a Boss DD500 that can also do pitch transposer sounds in Shimmer mode, so you can programme the 4 basic sounds and recall them via midi.

Right on, great tones, it really sounds spot on. I could dial in The Crossing and The Seer tones with my '86 Marshall 800, 2210 version. Except that thing was a 100 Watts and so I could never get the tone at a lower volume. I still have my blue-face MXR Pitch Transposer, with the display unit and the footswitch and it all still works great. I tried to sell it all for $500 last year on Reverb and on some Facebook marketplaces but nobody wanted it, so I ended up holding on to it. Great material on your channel, man. I'm going through your videos tonight. Do you know how to play the lead on the song Heart and Soul which they play after every chorus and at the end of the song?

This sounds outstanding! Well done, sir! Would you mind sharing your amp/ fx settings? Or maybe upload it to Custom Tone? I have Line6 Gearbox, as well and just can't quite nail that sound. I don't have an MXR, but I think I can get close with what I do have if I can ever get the tone right. Thanks!

Amazing! Are those all Stuart’s licks or Bruce’s too? How long did it take you to nail this?
@marshallheadkt662 ай бұрын
@@billbreed a mixture! I studied clips to see what and how the guys were playing the licks, and the sounds were built up from knowledge of the building blocks of their sound (combination of clean/dirty amp, delay and pitch transposer effects).

Hi Great sounds just purchased an mxr pitch shifter like yours will I need a 2 or 4 rack space to fit it on ? Cheers G
@marshallheadkt662 жыл бұрын
2 units for the transposer, and 1 more if you also have the display unit.
@marshallheadkt662 жыл бұрын
By the way, if you’ve bought it from eBay or reverb, make sure it’s all working ok, particularly if the seller is not familiar with what they do, They do deteriorate over time, and tend to drift as they settle down and warm up after powering on. If you have the display unit, you can see the degree of pitch shift move as the unit warms up. Make sure you’re getting the full range of just over an octave both down and up, and that you don’t lose range as the unit warms.

Can someone post the tab for the main rift - what’s he playing from 0.30

I don’t have any tab, but if you check my other videos I show how to play In a Big Country slowed down and close up, which may help.

What pedal are you using for the opening power chord riff
@marshallheadkt662 жыл бұрын
No pedals as such - all the sounds were via Line6 Guitarport. Pretty much any medium gain, mid focussed amp will get that sound.
@marc12marc3 жыл бұрын
Very good!, what distortion are you using on the intro?
@marshallheadkt663 жыл бұрын
It was all from Line6 gearbox, Marshall plexi amp sim with moderate gain, and the Tube Screamer sim and compressor in front. I messed with the tone as well as the various gain levels to get the solid state fat squawk.
@desimar32873 жыл бұрын
@@marshallheadkt66 I would love to know what distortion pedal Stewart was using when he recorded that song in the intro. Maybe a Rat? Many prominent UK punk/new wave/alternative guitarists where using Rats around that time.
@marshallheadkt663 жыл бұрын
@@desimar3287 I don’t think he was using a distortion pedal - the HH VS Musician Valve Sound effect pretty much sounds exactly like what you’re hearing on the heavy guitar parts of In a Big Country.
