This is one of the most intelligent and mature guests you've ever hosted. I have really liked her reasoning especially when she acknowledges that the kids belong to both her and her ex. Yani she struck a serious balance in her studies, career and family life. Well done Mama!

Wow! Wow! I applaud you Carol for representing women by speaking from your scars for a positive impact and not from your wounds for sympathy. I am happy to find a woman who have walked in my shoes and who think as I do. Children should indeed never be fought for beyond divorce. No parent is more parent than the other. " Love dies but respect should never be begged" You are phenomenal Carol!

What an inspiring story. Thanks Monica for hosting Carol. She has a beauty that radiates great vibes! I admire her maturity in handling the complications that life brought her way and coming out triumphantly! She is an example of a woman who has defied the traditional norms that relegate women to 2nd and 3rd class in personal development. Bravo Carol.

(Long comment alert) Listening to this, I have a new respect for you Carol. You are a wise strong lady. The interview is a whole book in itself. You have covered all sort of issues be it cultural, family, stigma e.t.c. I even took a notebook and I am proud to be a fellow Kaaga Girls alumni. I remember during her husband's burial, prof Mugenda thanked him (late Abel Mugenda) for taking care of their kids while she studied Abroad. I realize now that the man was far ahead of his time, considering the fact that culture dictates that women are the ones expected to sacrifice and shelve dreams for their families. I think when it comes to men relocating and shelving dreams, the external forces and maybe internal, could be too hard and may sink the ship. I have heard of ladies who have been given ultimatums, 'masomo ama familia'. I am proud of you girl for choosing to stand for what you believe and what you had struggled so much for. I know many of us ladies would have abandoned everything and run back home to 'save' the marriage. It's very wise of you believing that the kids father was also their parent and they were safe in his care. Like Chimamanda often says, girls are mistakenly taught to have dreams, but not so big, to shadow their husbands. Your ex really did try, even relacating to be with his family though at one point, maybe, the external forces were too much and sunk the ship. Go on gal, write that book, proceed to your PhD, you are a gem and the world is at your feet.

I’m totally humbled by your comment. Your doors opened at the same time pursuing your studies in Norway, getting married, having children at the same time. I have realized as a woman you have to sacrifice alot even as you purse your goals and purpose in life. I call you a warrior having tried to strike this balance and still living normally. Carol you are a fighter and a go- getter. I schooled with you in University of Nairobi before you proceeded to Norway. I salute you Carol you are a hero. Those wishing to be coached on children custody and support cases can reach out. divorce coaching is also an area i love because while we would badly want to divorce or to be divorced, our partners may creat a hell durning and after the process. for this reason, we sometimes need a neutral person to hold our hands, and tell us things we ay otherwise not want to hear.
