Father Mark, I found this exact thing out last Wednesday. My beloved brother passed away unexpectedly while he was at work. We are so heartbroken and have not even been able to tell our 92 year old father who is extremely unwell. I live in TN now but my husband and I both grew up in Butler. We lived only a few miles from the Farm Show as newlyweds. When my husband showed me this news I could not compute that it happened in our proverbial back yard. When I learned that this happened last night, I wept. When I learned this morning that the shooter was a 20 year old child whose life was ended, I wept harder. The division, the rhetoric, the fear that has infected our nation. I am guilty as well. My eyes have not consistently been where they should be. For the sake of his sorrowful passion, have mercy on us and the whole world.

I was a child in the 1960s when most of the nation claimed Christianity. Yet Civil Rights were being fought and in the end MLK a Pastor and Malcome X a convert to the Muslim religion were both taken out. JFK a Catholic was taken out. Prayer was still in school then. Vietnam was being fought. Hippies were huge. Drugs were huge. I don't see this time as any diffrent then that time.

I was reminded of that while praying The Mantel of Mary Project prayers just now. Truly I believe St M intervened and saved his life.
