I hate Chevy engines in fords but I could thinking of a few reasons why someone would. The 5.3 or 6.0 Chevy are plentiful and super easy to swap into something, even the wiring harness is if you know the easy way around it. also if a Chevy wants a competitive lightweight car it doesn't get better than a mustang.. A lot of people say the ls are so much cheaper to build but usually from what I see it cost about the same as a 351w if not more than it.

It's not just cost but what you get for your money. Dollar for dollar the ls series can't be beat as far as making power. that said, my Trans Am is LSx powered and my notch will stay Ford powered ;)

That's one bad ass 331. I have a 87 fox with a Keith Craft N/A 347, 5 speed and my best time is a 10.40. Your car and my car sound exactly the same through my computer. Lol. That's a very impressive 331! Great job!

@@Quarterhorse2 Are you just switching out bottom end to 347 stroker and using everything from your 331 build cause your head,cam,intake etc seemed to be very affective combo breaking into 9s NA with 5spd stick shift car is impressive without a power adder

@@miker1681 Thank you but...No! As a matter of fact everything is anew combination. Block, heads cam intake, trans, clutch etc... The goal is 650 hp all motor. If we can get a solid 650 I'm gunning for 8.9X slip.

I believe when i saw your previous setup it was AFR 205 victor jr intake and carburetor with alot of gear never asked what ratio but if i where to guess around 4:33 / 4:56 am i close ?? I look forward to seeing your car and i will hopefully be done with mine also ( currently have 3 different builds ) 95 cobra w/306 plus a 96 4.6 gt and 95 gt w/302 drift car all of them are modified/built by my son and me on a very small budget in our own garage here in ct

@@miker1681 Yes and yes! Solid .730 lift 268/276 @ .050 Using AFR 220 heads and a Super Victor w/ some port work. The 4.56 gears I used to run are getting swapped w/ 4.88 gears.

NED! For a time, back in the 89-90 era... to my knowledge, I had the fastest stone stock 5.0 at NED. 14.13 @ 98.46. 1989 LX coupe 5speed with 2:73 gears. I ordered the 3:08 but didn't get them for some reason.

I have a 92 notch 5.0 so far 11.98 this year will be 11.5s. Not a lot of $$ involved stock block and rotataing assembly, I'm going to run 10 s very soon! Don't think a 301 Chev could do what my all Ford notch is doing for the same $$.

That’s a synchronized tko 600 ? I just ordered a tko 600 from liberty transmission with all the good stuff but still with synchros for my 85 notch with a nicely done 347 hydraulic roller Comp 282 cam , afr 185s. 10:1 compression. Looking forward to finishing my car.

What hci combo are you running and what's the CR ? I have a 9.9:1 306 with ported gt40p heads and cobra intake, f cam, 75mm TB, 88mm maf, 30lb injectors and made 300whp. But I'm ready for more. I want to build a higher comp 11:1 331 or 347. I could turbo it and go faster for cheaper but that's not really what I looking for. I loved the torque of my old 11:1 4V Cleveland. I really regret selling that car and engine. The 4V are worth a tons now.
