Thank you Karen Hunter and Dr. Carr for serving us this tall glass of crystal clearer water. Some will be sprinkled but all need to be baptized by submersion in its truths. I can only wish my Dad were here to hear it as he was the military race relations specialist in Europe in the '70's who made many groundbreaking speeches to mostly white audiences and standing ovations...many high school American high school teachers around Germany promoted his presence and leadership as well. Preach Dr. Carr 'bout those legendary Dixie Hummingbirds!

As a former student of Broadcast Media, I really appreciate Dr. Carr's critic of The Black Church. As he was talking I was thinking about the Invisible Church. That's the Church where black people among others who went to the woods and found a clearing and did what they do. This Church was dangerous and needed to snuffed out lest black people find out that we were human. We already knew that but it good to be reminded. Baby Suggs (Holy) in the clearing was profound.

Growing up I was always labeled as angry, consequently as an adult the angry black man syndrome I was labeled with. This is the reason why I began to study because I had feelings inside that told me something was not right, now that I understand truth and the connection to my spirit and the untapped power it holds gives me the authority to say this, as you strive to teach others there will be those who hold onto their ignorance for dear life. Pray for them because we have all been in that space and we need each other. When things change for the better the sheeple will have no choice but to follow.

As a child when I sat among my elders I heard them speaking of our family members who had endured bondage but they felt ashamed of it and would not speak about the experience in depth. But you beautiful souls have removed the shadow of shame that the bonders held over me for so long. Now I embrace the essence of my forefathers and foremothers. Thank you for giving me the space to own my truths and be thankful for what they have given me.
