Strange that someone with zero fashion experience gets a major runway gig. I don’t want to pick on her because of her stepmom. Cute interview. She comes off as very likable to me. As a criticism, I don’t care much when people speak like every sentence is a “question”, with the inflection emphasized on the last word and drawing it out. Very annoying and pet peevish to me. Otherwise, I do like this kid and wish her well. She seems to have a nice spirit and positive energy presence.

I’m with you on the ‘question’ sentence ending - it’s excruciating to endure, along with the word-swallowing, but it’s an insecurity thing that hopefully she’ll outgrow. She is, after all, still very young. Most people commenting here have little to no comprehension of the art & fashion world. It’s a lot of work and you’ve got to not ever fuck up or you’re out, and it’s a career that chooses you on your looks in terms of what the fashion companies want. You don’t ‘work your way up’ as a model - you get picked or you don’t. Why? for capital: if she sells product, great! If she fails to sell product she’s yesterday’s news. She’s not at all a bad looking person in my opinion. I’d make out with her in a heartbeat. She’d probably hate me because I think for myself so I’m not a ‘woke’ collectivist cult fanatic, but I’d get in a good couple of weeks with her before she figured me out ;)

How ironic... I actually came across this video because I was looking for how to pronouce Proenza Schouler (I was very close btw... ;-) ) I wanted to know because, I'm CONSIDERING selling a P.S. skirt that I own...and which I love, but find that I never end up wearing. As I'm watching more of this video (and wondering, who IS this Ella Emhoff...I think I want to know more about her....), I then note Ella's top...and I'm like Wait a Minute... that top almost looks as if it were part of the same collection from which I bought my skirt! If I had such a top, I might have been more likely to wear the skirt. (I ain't gon' lie...the skirt is a bit tricky to figure out what to wear with it. I think I purchased the skirt around 2014 or so?....from the P.S. store in SoHo. It's a silk (organza?) flowy skirt with a criss-cross style band that goes through grommets at the waist. If anyone is reading this and can figure out if such a top as Ella is wearing 1) is indeed a top from P.S. (or was it just huge coincidence that her top matches my P.S. skirt) and 2) where I might be able to purchase it? Thanks!

As a designer that should be, intrinsically, the easiest and most critical question to prepare for and respond to... whether it’s a single inspo or many, the answer should be immediately graspable. @@erik3579 I get what you mean but PS should know better than to engage with her or to give her a platform. There are so many interesting people in the world - and based on this content that she said - nothing interesting it seems. If she is able to use her privilege and build up a successful knitwear/fashion brand then I will respect her. Look at someone like Tory Burch, who I admire a lot, she's hugely privileged and managed to build a brand which generated about 1.5 billion dollars in revenue, using all her money and connections - well done her !!! Or Even Stella McCartney ! who again has built a great business with ethics of course, capitalising on her parents at first but is now an industry leader in sustainability. Of course these things take time but I think we will know if a few years if Ella can hack it - for now I wait to be convinced by her actions. - Its also more of a question of what has she actually done ? perhaps I need to wait and see her final collection from Parsons to judge her design skills but for now she's just a privilege white girl with an instagram account and a knitting machine with famous parents.
