As a Dad of two you lads this was a really inspiring video. It was so lovely to see the pride and pleasure you both have for each other as well as the music. My youngest plays drums and really got into music such as Super Furry Animals and Gorilaz at a young age (still only 10) the oldest loves the Beatles, but also Liverpool FC. I really hope I can have conversations like this in the future...I hope you keep inspiring each other for a long time yet. PS: I'm trying to find the confidence to do my first video and vinyl tag. Hi Daniel thank you for your kind words, music has certainly brought Alex and I closer .. my advice is make a video watch it back if you’re not happy do it again .. think of a channel name .. if you do it contact me immediately I will subscribe add you to the vinyl tag playlist and promote your channel in my community page everyone hesitates before taking a channel its normal .. That was fantastic, Rob! I finally had a chance to sit down and watch the whole thing. If there's a video of you two doing a karaoke of Rapper's Delight, ya gotta post it here. Great Smiths chat and your 45-minute driving adventure was hilarious. Never heard of Squid until you just showed it; sampled a bit and I'll have to dig in further. Never heard of Pumarosa either... might be a bit too dreamy for me. Of course the best parts of this video is you and Alex talking about shared experiences. Great idea, really fantastic! Cheers, Tom

Great video. You should do more of these with your son. I lived in Sheffield in 1994 - Meersbrook... I think. Also lived in Hull, Redcar and Worksop. Discovered Blur, Oasis, Beautiful South... Didn't become a Smiths fan until I got home, back in the states. Meat Is Murder is my favorite too. I like Hatful of Hollow a lot too

As a 37y old music lover whose favorite music era happens to be the three decades before i was born there is no doubt that the one who greatly shaped my musical education was my father as i was influenced by his own tastes and the music he loved. Love Squid’s O Monolith, I think I got that and love it because I first heard you mention them. The Smiths Meat yes great album, my personal favourite is Strangeways. Hey Rob, cool to see this conversation with your son. Definitely do more of these videos. I imagine Alex has better things to do than start his own VC youtube channel, but he would be great at it. You don’t hear people talk much about that Arcade Fire Suburbs album, but I love it. Not as keen on Reflektor but it’s a good one too. I think Tame Impala Currents would slot nicely in with some of the records you mentioned. Still waiting for you to fly the Fall flag, Rob. Local laws require it.

Fabulous idea Rob. I could do the same (in French) with my son. Great discussion in KGWL : I love this band but won’t buy the last. One (to heavy for me). In some ways they remind me some pop English bands of the 80s. Watching to you both and listening to your son, I realize that 1. I was’nt in 80s music during the 80s I was more in blues and rock bands from the 70s. 2. Nowadays, I am more in the 80s music. 3. Looking at new music is a sort of priority but more « outsiders » than famous fancy albums. And I try not to buy old artists (my age). Your discussion (I watched a small part) made me think this. Hi Rob - I agree with your son ultimately siding with Blur over Oasis & you both are right ✅️ in that particular Gorillaz album being a highlight for Damon. Bobby Womack was my favourite R&B singer & loved his guest spot on Stylo & Damon Producing his last album ..The Bravest Man In The Universe. Hope your son appears again , like to hear takes on contemporary acts. There are many good ones out there.

Hi rob just watched your video with your son alex what a great video and you have a lovely son with great taste in music as have you. I also have a son called alex who is an identical twin my alex has just become a lawyer but his twin brother Michael studies teaching. You have a similar relationship to me and my son alex we have gone to gigs together most recently blur Wembley and he influenced me in listening to newer artists who now i like example two doir cinema club .
