Dude this was absolutely incredible. This felt so much like a real war, especially through the camera shaking in the battle so you could really feel that impact of the gunfire and explosions. This was also very brutal, especially with the behavior of the brutes in the fight, which was fkn awesome. The music and lack of music fit in perfectly, as you could mainly just hear the sounds of the battle to really immerse yourself into the fight. And then that fight between the brute and the spartan towards the end was badass. This is easily one of the best halo stop motion battle scenes I’ve ever seen, and probably your best one yet. Absolutely incredible man. Amazing work.

I absolutely adored all of the small details! And the constant shaky cam added a much more, realistic feel. I mean, I really can’t find any massive issues (except for maybe how grainy the zoomed in shots can get, but that’s more of a nitpick thing, and sometimes the shaky cam can get a little nauseating [though that’s probably because I get motion sickness easily]) This was definitely a treat to watch, and even more entertaining to see the process that led to it being finished. The inspiration from landfall was also really clear, and overall really good! I can’t even imagine how long the scenes must’ve taken to animate.
@BlackStarInitiative7 ай бұрын
This is phenomenal animating. Your lack of VFX and use of practical effects is so awesome. The camera work was super impressive, I know how hard it is to get a big fat camera down in the weeds with the models. But the main thing was your use of momentum. Making those models look like their punches actually hit with their punches is really hard and you absolutely nailed it. Phenomenal work mate.

The cinematography overall is amazing! I personally think that the graininess from the phone camera really goes well with this, better than a dedicated camera. The fight scene was a tiny bit hard to follow, but I loved how strong everything felt, I was really immersed in it. I also love how emotions get conveyed with no dialogue. This is genuinely the best stop motion I have ever seen, probably the best one I will ever see. My favorite shot in all of it is probably at 1:18. Just something about that elite dying was satisfying for me XD.

Holy shit. That was like, I don't even know what to say. Everything was so grainy and gorey. It felt like an actual war, and that made it so much better to watch. I love how amazing your practical effects are with destructible environments, like when Ava blocks the grav hammer, and you see her feet get firmly planted into the ground with rocks getting flung up, or when she got thrown into the wall and it made a huge indent in it. Like, your small attention to detail is on a whole nother level, and don't get me started on your cinematography. All the angles and smooth shaky movements really tied everything together. I can't fathom how you do camera movements so well. Ava's fight with the chieftain was Phenomenal. all the quick secession jabs, and right/left hooks felt so crisp, and had a perfect level of weight behind them. The fight was in the chieftens favor, but Ava utilized her boost pack, her grapple shot, and most of all her speed to get an edge on the brute, who just couldn't keep up. seeing Codas dead body was actually pretty sad to see, but it was what Ava needed to push a little harder. That neck snap tho. Good shit. Loved everything about this Badlaxe. Only critiques I could give is, during a few of the cuts during Avas and the chieftains duel, the shaky camera movement didn't allow for a proper easing in for transitioning cuts to different angles, which could have been the intention, but it was a little hard to follow. Still really good though 👍👍👍 10/10

This was just so expertly crafted! The amount of experimentation used here was very impressive! From sound design, sets, lighting, Camara shake, colour etc... you’ve really managed to change your style which is very refreshing! The practical effects (cotton, plastic, paper etc...) were just so well done and in combination with the solid vfx (blood/shields/masking etc...) it created a great atmosphere. The use of various unique non halo sounds also added to the sound design (ex: terminator Sfx/ other Sfx). Overall the use of angles, Camara movement, set, lighting, sound design and just the sheer fluidity of the animation really added to making this so entertaining. May I also add this served as a good stop motion extension to the Halo 3 ODST live action commercial! Awesome work man!

damn, this was amazing. I think near-perfect. and I dont say that likely. usually really good animation like this compromises with Halo lore, shields and how equipment works, sfx and stuff. a big thing I see is shields tend to get removed in order for animation and story to take the front seat, which is completely understandable. but this had everything, it was very real. it felt very Halo, yet very realistic, it had that gritty vibe where the camera quality isn't perfect, but a grainy softness to it that I personally get along with a lot more. I love this. I'd say this is definitely one of if not my definitive new favourite stop motion animations, and I really don't say that lightly. with Mootroid's latest project, it was fucking brilliant and quite over the top spectacular, with the Planet Qutari series, the story was a massive reason it did so well, you knew what you were doing and wanted to do and you executed it well. the combat at times was a little disconnected as it was shots of the enemy shooting and shots of the soldiers shooting, and that's at its worst which is still a bar that surpasses so much of what I've seen. but this is very much different, people just blowing up and dying out of nowhere in almost jumpscares, where you don't know whether you're about to follow these soldiers into battle or just watch them get blown apart or slaughtered. they're mini-stories of their own and really engaging for a war setting. the hammer fight felt like a spiritual successor to the heretic and the ODSTs vs the chieftain in the Qutari finale in every way that a sequel should be - an expansion, an improvement, different yet doesn't throw dirt on the original. the choreography was interesting and brilliant to watch, it showed how much you've improved and how much you strive to continue to, lord knows how much of a god you'll be by the end of this story, whenever that'll be. there's not much more I can say, I get so deep into these points that I forget everything else and just want to praise over and over. very very good, 4 months more than worth the wait, feeling so spoilt with this stuff.
