I don’t get the hate for this car. It’s a fun, sporty convertible that can be bought for a reasonable amount of money.

The only people who have a bad word to say about a 986 Boxster are people who have never driven one. Since owning mine, and going to many Porsche meets, I've spoken to loads of people who used to have one and then went on to buy a number of 911s. Every single one of them sings the praises of the 986 for how it handles and steers. I even know a few owners who have bought one to have alongside their 911. It's a great fun car and relative bargain prices. Mine has cost me a fair over the last year, but it's been worth every penny!!😁😁

Purchased a 2002 Boxster S as my retirement car in 2011 and it's been an ongoing love affair ever since! Took her on a 7 week road trip down Pacific coast 101 then across to Death Valley then Grand Canyon and up to Red Rocks Colorado. She hugged every twisty hair pin turn the Rockies threw at her on both U.S. & Canadian sides and got 30 mpg on open roads in 6'th gear. That's when I realized it's not miles per gallon that's important to me as much as smiles per gallon and I had hundreds of those! 😍

I’m glad you’ve been loving yours! Fuel efficiency is fine and all but smiles per gallon is what truly matters at the end of the day! -Stan

Bought my 986 about a year ago and have loved every second of it. It’s been sitting on stands for the last two months due to an oil leak but should be pretty simple fix (spark plug tubes). To anyone who’s on the fence, just do it. You won’t regret it.

In a 2 hour period, my 1998 Boxster received 4 comments admiring its beautiful lines last week.

I have a 2000 base Boxster that I purchased 2.5 years ago with 58,000 miles from new. Never have regretted buying it. Arctic Silver with “dreaded Dell Computer Gray” interior. I does bother me. PORSCHE All Ways

I have it for about two weeks now. Lovely car, and the interior is nice indeed. But I love the 986 interior as well. Mine was also black

I have a base 2.7 986 and I adore it.Dont care if its not as loved as the 996 (which is also not getting the love it deserves),its a mid engined Porsche roadster.Goes great,handles great,looks great,allways makes me smile.These are fantastic cars at any price but the bonus is that they are affordable

Its a great car!! i had one for almost 5 years, and loved every minute driving it. Moved on to a 987 now, which is also great!

How long have you had your 987? I love how sharp the interiors of those are.

The boxster s is a car that delivers on its promise of being a fun car. You see it's fried egg headlights and the somewhat dreaded ims bearing issues and you don't want to go near it, but once you're in it, either driver or passenger, it is a blast. I had the opportunity to learn how to drive stick on a Boxster S (coincidentally that exact one, Hi Stan!) and now I want a 996 911.
@christopherlastname7638Ай бұрын
The hate is because they have never driven one or they paid more for the same car plus boxster saved Porsche for bankruptcy

Just bought a bargain basement fixer, Love it. Got a 2000 2.7 base model with 110k miles and great history, it has been unloved for a while but i will fix her and get her back to her former glory.

Had a 987 Boxster, then a 996 Turbo and now back to 987 (Cayman). I must say, I like the Boxster/Cayman handling a lot more than a 911. Personal preference but it feels more stable and is so much fun around corners

That boxster sounds amazing. I haven't tried an 'S' yet. I test drove a base model at a time I had a C5 corvette and an '01 Cobra. The base model boxster was underwhelming compared to the V8's I was accustomed to, but I still love the look and the sound. May have to get it out of my system one day and just buy one. At least for a while
@Compose_MediaАй бұрын
I forgot to mention that this boxster has a Soul valved exhaust system! I’ve driven a base model boxster and do agree with you it’s a little lackluster on power, especially compared to those great V8s you’ve driven. -Stan
@MDQDZINEАй бұрын
I can totally understand why you would feel like you did when you drove the Boxster because the two cars you had were fantastic. But, as i am sure you know, tou were comparing the Boxster to a totally different class of car so of course it felt underpowered. Just because all 3 are 2 seater sportscars doesn't put them in the same class. Different cars for different purposes.
@Rgh71fishАй бұрын
@@MDQDZINE yes, you're right. Its an unfortunate byproduct of becoming used to quick cars and bikes, that other great vehicles tend to lose some of their luster for not having the same urgency when applying throttle. On another note, I found the drop in performance difficult to justify when taking into account some of the costly repairs that Boxsters can incur. I got to thinking that if I were to have to spend thousands fixing things on the car, it had better deliver. Thats mostly where it fell short for me. The C5 and Cobra are both extremely solid and reliable cars that a circus monkey could do maintenance on. I was very spoiled in every category on those cars.
@Compose_MediaАй бұрын
@@Rgh71fishcouldn’t have said it better myself! I definitely foresee myself getting a C5 in the future. -Stan
@Rgh71fishАй бұрын
@@Compose_Media you will love it. The removable targa panel on the coupe lets you have at least 75% of the convertible experience when you want it, with none of the drawbacks. No hard top to keep at home or commit to for the entire drive, no fabric top to tear, no motor/linkages to replace. Removing it is a quick, one man job and it stores securely in the back. It really is quite the package. A very easy, hassle free car to live with, and will most likely outrun the 996 carrera fwiw. Oh, and it gets phenomenal gas mileage.

Every time I try to buy a Miata I can't get over the high price here in Canada. I ended up buying all of my favourites from the aughts. I purchased a 2005 SLK 55, a 2006 Z4M roadster, a 2009 Boxster S with a PDK, and yesterday I bought a base 2004 Boxster with full leather and a manual. My logic makes no sense, but I have a pretty cool collection.
@Compose_MediaАй бұрын
I’ve personally found logic can get in the way of truly enjoying any kind of hobby, cars included. I truly believe that the 00s were the pinnacle of solid interiors with pure mechanical performance. Congrats on the purchase, hope you have many enjoyable years with it! -Stan

There is no hate for this car. It sold most of all Porche models, so should that not say something. Enough with the constant videos justifying the value of the car, the terms have already been set a long time ago.
