Thank you for putting this video together and thank you for your bravery undertaking this project without instructions from Camberg.

Hahaha yeah it really seems like they only want off road shops to do it

Can’t wait for a compiled guide when the series of this build is complete. Could definitely save me time and money learning from others mistakes.

Great video. I gave a Gen 1 raptor and am strongly considering going to gen 2 live valve.....

Hi, can you say if old bucket and new bucket have the same upper mount point angle? I mean after installation have you used old shims for your shock or have just mounted shock and it had already correct angle for raptor? I'm asking because i would like to convert my regular f150 but i want to use all stock suspension except for shock, so i need same shock angle as OEM f150 2009-2014.

If you are adding the buckets you don't use shims. They are designed to drop in the gen 2 shocks. I would assume that they angled the bucket to negate the need for shims that change the angle. So in theory you might be able to put the buckets in and a longer shock. But if you aren't changing control arms, the shock will be pointing too far out. Maybe you could run the shims "oppositely" so that it points the shim back down. But do it at your own risk. I'm just picturing it in my head.

Thanks for clearing out. Yeah i was thinking the same, about opposite shims to put strut back to oem position. Also i asked guys at Cambrug, maybe there is two versions? Looking at drawing in website looks like geometry is the same, so begs the question how is it in fact...? Anyways many thanks for reply :-)

So, was the truck better off road?

In my opinion, yes

What was your deciding factor to go from a 1st gen setup to a 2nd gen setup?
@NSQGarage Жыл бұрын
to be honest, my Gen 1 shocks were blown out. the price to rebuild them would have been a significant portion of just buying those lightly used gen 2s. that in combination with a larger shock body was really tempting. a lot of raptor swap guys have had really good success and like the feel of the gen 2 3.0s a lot more.

Why not go coilovers?

This is a cheaper solution. Used Gen 2 raptor shocks are regularly available

How do the gen 2’s handle compared to your gen 1’s?

I would say that I can feel the size increase. The springs certainly make it stiffer, but everything feels a little bit better controlled with the larger shocks.

I’ve had my 2011 swapped with gen 1 parts for about 6 months and I’m already researching my next step to the build. Was the upgrade to gen 2 shocks worth it? I’ve been hearing mixed reviews. Some say go for it, others say don’t bother. Your thoughts?
