Ok so will first gen raptor shocks fit on 2005 f150 fx4 just looking for level and ride Quality trying to find out but can’t find and good info thank you

You need new buckets to have proper angles for gen 2’s on a gen 1.

Just put gen2 shocks on a gen1 raptor. I Just left the Gen 1 spacers off and the Gen 2 front coil over shocks bolted up perfectly.

Just did this on the weekend. Been driving for a week now and it’s been good so far.

@@jesseb280 I just drove my gen 1 to Moab Utah from Florida . Ran it hard for a week . So the gen 2 shock's work perfect with out spacers. I did use my stock springs.
@jesseb2803 жыл бұрын
@@raptorair500 that’s awesome! I bolted up the whole strut assembly from the Gen 2. Just line them up right and they fit right in. Been listening for any sort of sounds and so far so good. The fronts I got had less than 10k on them and the Gen 2 rears were brand new. We’ll see how it’ll go.
@raptorair5003 жыл бұрын
@@jesseb280 did you use your original gen 1 springs on the gen 2 front struts ? Because I had to use my stock 2010 springs to get a good ride.
@jesseb2803 жыл бұрын
@@raptorair500 used the Gen 2 springs. Removed the spacer that was sitting on top of the Gen 1 spring. No ride quality issues.

Anyone got a long term review on this conversion. Is everyone using straps on the front to limit travel and save CV joints? larger bump stop to protect the rears?
@robertsamspon42325 жыл бұрын
yes you need strap limiters..... he must have read our post on raptor forum for all of this info.
@Titantramp4u4 жыл бұрын
The longer (Gen2) front shock...the shock is the limiter for down travel, with the longer shock don't you run out of upper control arm ball joint angle?....and how about the same for the CV joint angles?
@robertsamspon42324 жыл бұрын
correct. you need limiter straps. this video was just him reading what we did in the raptor forums.

I just recently purchase 2107 ford raptor struts, I am looking at getting some shocks. But my question is the and really difference between the Gen 2 raptor shocks?like . Would be ok running the fords fox racing shock with the gen 2 struts.

do u know if the ride height changes with the stock 1gen spring on the 2gen shock? just wondering since the 1 gen was heavier.
@robertsamspon42324 жыл бұрын
no, because your required to use the gen 1 spring on the gen 2 shock to make it work. so no.

As a man sitting next to both a set of first gen and second gen rear raptor shocks I can tell you that those travel numbers you shared reflect the suspension travel as the wheel cycles, not the shock travel itself. First gen rear shocks travel 11.5", 2nd gen rears shocks are 12.5".

Take it up with the technical specs lol. I didn’t measure it, it’s what the engineers released 😉

Could limit straps work?
@robertsamspon42324 жыл бұрын
they are required to keep the CV from going into a Bing. He didnt mention this because all he did was read the thread off Raptor page that we " I " started and figured it all out with the help of 1 or 2 others.
@kriskline75595 жыл бұрын
Guys have you actually seen a benefit of doing all this? Why not just go to Fox or King and buy the shocks that were designed to fit on your model year? You can buy King or Fox 3.0’s that are better than the 1st Gen Raptor Fox stock suspension. Also swapping the old spring onto the new shock changes the way that coil over would function, which may diminish performance.
@tcr22375 жыл бұрын
Kris Kline I’ve seen used fox 3.0s off a gen 2 raptor for $575 a set... only had 70 miles on them. I was going to buy them for my gen 1 but I don’t think you can adjust the perch setting on the 3.0’s
@xyrothryu5 жыл бұрын
@@tcr2237 if you just want mid perch, the 3.0s with gen 1 springs ride at mid perch height when compared to gen 1

@@livefoursand i just did the rears on mine this weekend, perfect ride. Fronts will be next also. you will need the front to be limited by straps if you plan to off road hard. the CV will go into bind with the longer droop.......... just remember that. if you drive in town every day and just have a raptor to show everyone...... no issues ride after the install.

I disagree the wight difference between the two trucks is huge and each system is tuned to handle the wight of that specific vehicle.
