When I was a kid back in 1967, I put a 2.75 hp Clinton 2 stroke on a Western Flyer 28 in frame with 20 inch wheels. The primary drive from engine to Jack shaft was a belt and a pulley centrifugal clutch where halves of pulley squeeze up on belt and actually changed gear ratio ( like some snow mobile clutch pulleys)with right belt and temp..very smooth

We got one about 8 months ago for my son to take to work 12 miles away the issues we encountered were, had to replace the clutch with a aftermarket clutch (note: keep your clutch lubricated), The left side crank arm wobbled loose and needed re tapped (tap was 8m x 100 (odd size so had to order tab online and new bolts), we replaced that arm but it still needs to be checked about once a week (use lock tight), we replaced the jack shaft bearings with higher quality bearings( the org ones rusted in the rainy weather and wore out). we did add puncture resistant tire liners as we found were he has to ride on the side of the road has a lot of small debris and junk that will flatten your tire, (make sure you check each and every bolt out of the box and tighten them we had many loose ones, and out of the box it will only get up to between 15-20 miles per hour unmodified.. Now the Good this thing starts every time weather its below freezing, raining or over 95 degrees it always starts up. with the fat stock tires when you take a hard turn on a soft surface you are way less likely to wipe out, the over all ride is pretty smooth out of the box, the price we bought it at Walmart through kings was great for the product and kings shipped it right away, we paid $999.99. It runs vary quite with the stock muffler good to not catch attention or wake the neighbors, the stock muffle has a nice heat shield and wont burn you unless to try to get burnt. and the build over all all is sturdy with good welds. Over all we would buy it again and knowing what we do, we would buy the aftermarket clutch and things I mentioned above with it to be installed before ridding it. Those mods would cost us around $200.00 more but make the bike great. on that note he did ride it for about the first 60 days before we had to do anything.

@@MotoredLife I have a stock phat moto bike with Governor bypassed and the stock 50 tooth rear sprocket. I'm thinking about getting a custom one made from sprockets specialties and going with a 70 - 82 rear sprocket for all bottom end cruising and pulling power. Have you jumped up 20 or 30 teeth on the rear sprocket or rode a bike with this much rear sprocket? I know it should be a pretty big gain and if this doesn't suit me. I guess I'll go with a 212 CC and a stage 2, 3 or 4 kit. I just hope with a 212cc I can still pedal the bike without things hitting my legs. I do a lot of peddling with engine off and take on a lot of hills and would like to go off-road with more bottom end engine and pedaling power. That 212cc definitely would be a lot more bottom end power it would pretty much double the horsepower and torque.

I like you can pick up a full pit bike aluminum throttle completed with bearing pulley inside of it they're on you get up for about 30 bucks and they handle has two notches for the kibble adjustment you can link the door in the cable on the throttle itself under the tube you have two slots for the cable to mount further back or for their forward quarter action or full throttle

I went with a nine tooth Max torque eBay clutch for a 415 stock fatmoto chain. But I was looking for more bottom end power that's why I went one tooth less from factory. I'm pretty sure it was a 9 tooth Max torque clutch. But definitely one tooth less than the factory and it definitely helped the bottom end pulling power. I didn't really notice the top change but I'm sure it did if I put a GPS mph speedo on it.

Yes you could flip it but the sprockets are special splined (proprietary) so you would be limited to both on the same side. If you replaced the bearings with 5/8” ID you could use a straight keyed shaft and put sprockets wherever you like

@@barnfresh3787 have you went this route before? I guess it would be a cheaper route if you could get standard 40 or 41 common gears and sprockets. I'm pretty sure I'm going to order a custom made sprocket specialties 70 - 82 tooth rear sprocket for all bottom end power. The sprocket is about $95 custom made not too bad. I'm going to try this rear sprocket first before I possibly go to a 212cc predator engine with the stage two, three or four kit. No one seemed to have a 70 through 82 tooth rear sprocket with a 415 chain online or at shops.

I have a 49cc OHV in a similar frame that i built up from scratch, incl the wheels. My others are the 43cc Weedeater ( weedwacker) on a 20'' folding bike, 39cc OHV in a Cruiser Frame, a 66cc 2stroke and 2x 49cc 2strokes in Old steel frames with Stirrup brakes. Having built close to 20 over the last six and half years, i am always intrigued when i read in the comments from many Motorised forums, is. How fast does it go. I am also asked the same question when i venture out on either the 66cc or the 39cc to the Shops. My answer is , it is is not about speed, but , getting there and back. As long as it handles the hills and can cruise on the flats, i'm ok. Also it is a lot more fun and an attention seeker parked or mobile. I would not mind the options that you have State side for all the variants of motors, frames and wheels available for Motorised Bikes. The Exchange rate and Import Duties would not make it possible for me. Greetings from South Africa.

I have a mostly stock fat Moto with Governor bypassed it has the 50 tooth rear sprocket. I'm thinking about going 70 or 72 rear sprocket have you ever changed to a bigger rear sprocket? I know it should be a whole lot more bottom end and that's what I want all bottom end pulling power. The sprocket they custom make they can literally make any tooth sprocket they said. I've thought about an 80 or no more than 82 tooth Max rear sprocket.

This bike would be better with an actual jack shaft and a rear fat tire mountain bike tire and rim with a geared rear cassette with a rear derailleur so as to change gears for more speed and better hil climbing abilities. Plus if you were to add springer forks and shocks on the front also a spring and gell seat for more comfort on riding would help.

@@barnfresh3787 I have had mine for 2 years now. I can no longer find the cluch for the 19, so going to get the 2020 jackshaft eventually plus the teeth on my jackshaft they're starting to do the shark teeth thing pretty badly. Having said that at first I despised the clutch , actually have two of them. But after working with the clutch a little I actually love it now. Currently around 3,000 miles on my phatmoto. No clutch issues any more. The only thing I do is this, once in a while i take it apart clean it up with brake cleaner, lube it up with three in one oil. I took the bushing off the back of the clutch that's a big part of the problem now instead I use 2 5/8 inch washers and put it on the front of a clutch instead. And before every ride I drop a couple drops at 3 in 1 oil on the back of the clutch where it meets the engine shaft. No issues with a clutch ever anymore.

I think for $1000 you could do better. A 212 faker build would cost right around there and you could be sure that quality parts are going on. Honestly, I think the 49cc Huasheng's are every bit as good as the 79cc Lifan. Not as much torque, but similar top speed and a smaller/lighter package. I also think they're better suited for a bike because of their high redline.

What kind of frame would you need to handle that kind of power? Is a jackshaft suggestible for a 212cc if that would help keep the motor at low rpm at those speeds? I’m looking to take a lot of ideas from different people and put it together.

Phatmoto should come out with a slimmer motor configuration to keep it streamline and an optional belt drive to quiet it down, it will also eliminate vibration
@tomtee4442

With my years of experience working on engines, solid motor mounts like on the fat moto bike I have wiggle bolts loose. I run solid motor mounts on my street and strip car it makes for quicker launches, no motor mounts to come loose or break, the car shakes and you can feel the power and vibrations in it but it's a 710 horsepower dynoed motor with a radical race idle. But for me I don't experience the vibration on my little 3 horse power fat Moto and I ride a lot. I would just like to have a less bumpy ride with a shock absorber on my bike for more of a spring-loaded soft seat.

I’m gonna be completely honest. To me that would be a luxury because it’s nice to not have to deal with the headaches of actually making one of these bikes. It would be pretty awesome just to get it and start riding immediately. However on the other hand for the same price I was able to build mine and I have a 2 stroke 66cc engine thats ported and carb tuned with a performance exhaust which absolutely decimates this phatmoto bike in terms of speed. And that costed me around $500 With the remaining $500 I put on a battery in there a horn, turn signals, speakers, headlight and taillights with side view mirrors so it’s a close as possible to a real motorcycle and as street legal as I could make it. I don’t really see it as worth it TO ME on account of the fact that I can make a better product for the same price. Now for all your young folk out there that got the money and don’t or cant deal with the mess of preparing one of these machines, then I would say it would marginally be worth it.

Let’s be clear on this. Walmart does not sale this bike. Yes, you may find it on the Walmart website but buyer beware because Walmart allows third party sales on their website but will not assist you in any issues arise and Walmart does not vet who they allow to sale on their website. I know this because I had to learn the hard way.

@@MotoredLife Do the fatbike tires/wheels feel more stable at high speeds 35-40 mph VS a standard cheap Walmart 26 x 2 in motorized bike/wheels? ....If you add some tire slime or RideOn tire self balancer & puncture sealant to the inner tube. The tire/wheel will self balance itself at high speeds and won't vibrate, similar to a balanced car or motorcycle tire. I entered to win a 750w electric fat bike, If I won I wanted to make it to a gas/electric hybrid....Was gonna relocate the battery pack from the frame center and mount a 2 stroke engine kit in.. The cops in Iowa are pricks about motorized bikes, I'll use the gas engine to ride the back roads and electric for in town. If I see a cop coming, I can shut the engine off, switch to electric and start to pedal.

I have 2019, with some mods, (gears, exhaust, bars, mags tires, RockShox). Mine does 37MPH on flat ground, and still climbs okay. Although I swap my motor out for the Home Depot Lifan, feels like it has a little more torque then the stock motor but that might just be coincidence.

I prefer a gas engine. Gas engines can be made cleaner and quieter, but in California, small gas engines are a devil. This is perfect for getting to the bread line, when the power goes out, in my progressive state.
