REF button works in conjunction with PLAY STILL button. When you have PLAY STILL active, you can wipe between Gallery Stills, Timeline Clips and Offline Reference. Awesome feature, very useful!

Next I would like to see streamdeck xl and resolve mini panel combined grading. then Flanders scientific monitor review (DM240) Many people asked about your PC build in desk setup video so a special video for PC would be good. Cheers bro 🎉

Thanks a lot for the great insight on the Mini Panel. The Ref toggle key in BMD Mini Control Panel changes the reference wipe between the Gallery, Timeline and Offline sources. In order for this to work, the Image Wipe has to be On.

No pain no gain you killed it with that one 😂 Question: will the wheels work for the hdr wheels? And do you happen to know if they would also work on the micro panel? Loved your vids bro

The wheels do work for the hdr palette. And I would imagine they work for the micro panel as well, just with less control on the panel itself. Thanks!

I hope I am in the right spot here. I'm editing mostly Videos for KZbin and overall Social Media, but as time develops I find myself starting to make higher level videos and starting commercials. Up until now I used FCPX, and it is perfect for easy videos and fast edits, but I find myself hating the magnetic timeline from time to time and want to switch to DaVinci. I now want to go all in and force myself to use it at the beginning because I don't want to see me go back to FCPX every time... As I want to start grading the videos better than previously (I do not have much experience and knowledge in colograding). As I like the editors keyboard really because of the jog wheel it has I am thinking of getting one of these two combinations 1: Blackmagic Editors Keyboard and Blackmagic Mini Panel or 2: Blackmagic Speed Editor and Blackmagic Micro Panel. Note here, I have special shortcuts currently that I use for FCPX that I prbly would copy to DaVinci (Q - trim back, W - cut, E - trim forward, etc.) Also I don't want to get started without one of all of these as I see myself buying one of the things in the future and it would be a waste of money to get only the license now and then buy a hardware where the license is in it... The thing I can't decide: do I need the Mini Panel or is the Micro enough? Do I need the Editors Keyboard or do I just use a normal smallformat keyboard and the speed editor? I would really appreciate if someone could share their thoughts or experiences!!!! Thanks!

Great video. I purchased one 7-8 months ago while I am learning how to color correct and while I still have lots of questions...here's my big one. How do you turn yours off? :p I'll come back the next morning and sometimes, not always, both panels are obviously lit with nothing on them. So far all I can do it just unplug it. Also, for a future video. Can you color correct a green screen person against different backgrounds. So far all my green screen work is not to my standards. Let's assume I am lighting correctly. I am just having issues matching backgrounds. Thanks.
@tomasbaratomas
@tomasbaratomas 3 жыл бұрын
If you upgrade the firmware it goes into sleep mode which turns off the lights and displays, then push any button to wake it up (the wake up button press won't register in the settings of what ever you just pressed). Assuming you already did that and sleep mode sometimes fails. Your next option is to unplug or install a breaker somewhere between your panel and power. Why it completely lacks an on off switch is beyond me, seems like the simplest thing especially considering a form factor that has space left to spare.
@Justin_Allen
@Justin_Allen 3 жыл бұрын
@@tomasbaratomas Thanks for your reply. I have updated the firmware and I would say I am about 50/50 on it going to sleep or just staying lit. And yes, why Blackmagic doesn't put power switches on there products is beyond me. This is not the only product I have from them that has this issue.
@tomasbaratomas
@tomasbaratomas 3 жыл бұрын
@@Justin_Allen Yes, it's not a rock solid sleep mode. It's an interesting move/non move by BMD. I installed a wireless "trådfri" switch from IKEA to cut the power. The on off button is magnetic so you can stick it on whatever metal you have close by or attach it under the desk to get it out of the way.

I stumbled across a Bazilian fella André Rodrigues who has recently created a software interface that unlocks the Tangent Wave 2 to do all and any of the pages including HDR. It is so good! The tangent panel isn't quite as well made as the BM line up. But with his interface you can use his defaults or set up your own. Even able to program any of the tangent panels into davinci. The Mini panel has a great feel to it and I find myself using the bottom part 90 % of the time as I am used to keyboard shortcuts for node controls but that's just a matter of habit I guess. On the micro vs the mini I may add that the mini is quite a sturdy and bulky build. The positive side is that it feels very solid, the downside is it takes up quite a lot of desk real estate for what it does and the angles are a bit too wonky to easily router it into the desk. The mini panel also needs AC power to work while the micro panel doesn't. Hope it helps for you who are deciding between the two. Ideally both panels would have a couple of user programmable custom buttons and include a midi protocol for use with other software. But we can't have it all.
