Speaking with the Protee team I think this unit is just going to keep improving. As soon as the low spin is addressed then the ball data will all be perfect in my opinion. Then I'll try get a quad and start digging into the club data! The thing I really like is the fact that it doesn't require stickers. Even though I'm not someone who plays outside much when I do it is in competitions and so I dread having to take the stickers off and put them on again and that's only the single dot for the eye mini! Been following your channel for a while… thanks for the honest feedback and always great content. I am finally putting in my dream Simulator at the end of the month with the Protee VX I hope I don’t regret getting this kit as I could have gotten the Uneekor Eye XO which is in the same ballpark (price wise) and was strongly considering the Eye Mini except I’m a lefty and that is not ideal for visitors So far your videos using this unit seem to be positive which is great to see and make me feel good about my choice as far as the Protee VX unit. Hey Joe. I've been eagerly anticipating when this video would come out. Great job! I have done some testing as well. I only have a Mevo Plus to test against though. I had put the Mevo Plus in a drawer but got it out the other day to do some more testing and will continue to do some more in the future. When I first got my ProTee VX back in the summer, my carry yardages seemed a bit low so opposite of what you are seeing. I did a test where I took the Mevo Plus to the driving range and then hit some more shots in the sim with the Mevo Plus right after and the carry yardages at the range were higher for all clubs. The carry yardages between the Mevo Plus and the ProTee VX were almost identical, so I kind of chalked it up to the turf I was hitting off of. With all the updates to the ProTee software, things are improving for sure with the ball and club data. I now have a cutout with some EZ Tee Hybrid turf and this has improved things as well. I use the carry yardages in GSPro though as I find them better than the ones in the ProTee software. Did you set your altitude the same in GSPro as in the ProTee software? I do find the angle of attack is a bit too high on the high lofted clubs like my 60 and 56 degree wedges. I have started turning off my spotlight as I think the reflection off the club face could be affecting the readings. It's just a theory though, but might be something to consider doing as well in your testing. I have some worn down RCT balls that I used to use with the Mevo Plus and when testing them with the ProTee VX the spin numbers (both back and side) are significantly lower so it definitely works better with markings on the ball. I just wonder if the Pix balls maybe have too many markings. I get the odd lob wedge that has super high sidespin numbers. I've reported these to ProTee through the software when it happens. Will be curious if you get similar results with plain white balls with no markings. I may start recording any future testing as the ball flight in GSPro vs the FS Golf app don't always match up so would be interesting to look at the numbers more closely for those instances. Hey Mike thanks for the message and kind words! Yes I definitely set the altitude and temperature to make sure everything was as similar and consistent as possible. That’s an interesting theory about the spotlight I’ll definitely test that. Im super keen to test the unmarked balls to see if there’s a difference but ill need to buy some new TP5X balls to test so its identical balls. There are soooo many variables aren’t there… I always try my best to make everything as neutral and as scientific as I can. But its so hard lol

@@JLagGOLF Yeah there are a lot of variables and seemingly infinite things you can test. For myself comparing against the Mevo Plus isn't ideal as it's a radar unit so works better with RCT balls. So I'm torn on which balls to use for my tests. If you can get your hands on GC Quad that would be fantastic and would really be the best as far as testing. I'm very excited to see all the things ProTee brings to the VX. I'm using the beta software and already some of the changes with the views are pretty great. Dispersion and swing cameras are on the horizon. Can't wait.

I currently have a Mevo+ and thinking about upgrading to the Protee as well. You said you're getting significantly lower spin numbers with the Protee than Mevo+? Or was that only when using the worn down RTC balls?

@@jcjay33 I found the following order from highest to lowest backspin: 1) ProTee VX with Pix balls 2) Mevo Plus with RCT balls 3) ProTee VX with RCT balls 4) Mevo Plus with Pix balls Gap Wedge 8,678 8,125 7,724 7,604 Sand Wedge 9,038 8,388 8,192 8,156 LW 9,742 9,157 8,212 7,594 This was just one session of testing but I think it gives a good representation.

If you're not the website is still a great resource to check out PC specs and all things Sim golf. baysidegolf.com.au/products/golf-sim-custom-gaming-pc-4k Here is the 4k PC.. the specs are great. For the projector just get a BenQ.. they have a few that are native 16:10.. so in your case I'd recommend getting one with that feature. baysidegolf.com.au/products/benq-tk710sti this is a great projector although it doesn't have the16:10 built in you can adjust the screen resolution through your graphics card so it's not a big deal.. if you're after the 16:10 native then the LK936ST has that but it's far more expensive.

Thanks for the review Joe. Very thorough. But what is concerning is those low(er) spin numbers are obtained by using PIX balls. What a lot of folks are seeing (if you review the Discord/online forums) is that plain white balls are even worse. But I think your data and testing will help ProTee get those issues worked out eventually.

GC2 HMT is a killer combo. The only issue is as I'm sure you are aware it's definitely an aging unit, flashes, and putting isn't great at slow ball speeds (HLA). I'll have a LOT more videos coming out with the Protee. This one was an overall review very in depth with everything but I'll do a lot more specific videos on it with data accuracy ect.. The GC3 and eye mini haven't been used since I've had it other than the testing so I think that for me is all the praise the unit needs 🤣. The overhead video is my favourite thing! That video just gives me everything I need.

Hey Joe, have you noticed significant distance measurements from the Protee labs range and GS Pro range/game distances? It feels the Protee range is accurate and the GS Pro is ~10yds shorter with a 7 iron. Less with shorter irons more with long irons and metal woods.

You will go mad trying to compare algorithms because at the end of the day that's all it is. The main thing is your raw data is good which I can say it definitely is with the Protee. I will check mine I haven't really paid a lot of attention to carry yardage between the two as it's just algorithm based. I will pay more attention in the future. I think the GS Pro algorithm is great and I use that.. what I will say is for 99 percent of people it's better to go with the software that has the shorter carry distance and take those numbers outside and see how you go. If you are carrying it too long consistently then go with the longer distance. But remember it's all carry distance. People get a lot of roll outside and then tend to think they carry it longer than they actually do.

@ thx for the quick and detailed response. What i have noticed is the distances on the protee range are very similar to the distances while playing a course on the gspro software. On another note i am new to the sim/gspro world and while i have been impressed with all courses i have seen so far, whoever designed Greywolf done an incredible job 👏

Love the club data aspect! Wow Hitting 12 down , i can only manage 5 🤣. Working on my club path atm with the square golf monitor im hitting on average 6-8 in to out,which normally causes a shallow aoa on research

It is incredibly accurate the only issues I have with it are the backspin numbers which I'm really happy to say Protee are looking into and taking seriously. They have taken all my data and are going to test at their HQ as well! 👍👍 The good thing is the back spin numbers are extremely consistent so in my opinion they can and will be fixed. Once the spin numbers are correct this unit will be insane. The video and all the data you get is next level.. And no I don't think height is the issue. But will wait to see what Protee say in their testing. I have talked to other users and this seems to be the one data point that people agree is low. For the majority of people using it they probably wouldn't even notice the spin numbers being low.

The beta update has been fantastic the Protee now for me is working great! All the club data is looking really good. I've seen massive improvements. As for the calculated data like carry distance and things I just use GS Pros algorithm for that. Club data has no effect on the data in GS Pro.

I would like to see you get an Eye XO (as it is more accurate than than the eye mini) and compare that with the VX. Not sure if your ceiling height would cause issues though.

My suggestion would be to focus on how the club data performs as there is a lot of info out there already on its ball data capabilities. Most folks don't take the time to do the stickers correctly and give a review of the club data accuracy compared to the other top dogs.... Since your a good player your opinion would be highly valued. Great work on this channel!

Great video Joe! Let me know if you have you seen this during testing ...if you hit one off the hosel and then it catches the toe to then straighten the ball flight path, the VX doesn't seem to capture that adjustment. It just keeps tracking the ball as if it's still on the original path, ignoring the club correction. Have you experienced this? I'm assuming it's because GSPro gets the info so quickly from the VX, pretty much at impact to then send the ball data over to GSPro. Let me know if you've seen this. ​@@baysidegolf I've had my unit just under a year, I bet I've seen it about 20 times. Kids and friends visit often! Happens on heel shots too, although not as drastic. I've hit them off the heel same shot then shoots off the toe and redirects the path. The VX swing video does a great job capturing it. Goes to show how fast it captures and sends off at impact. Not a support issue for me, I absolutely love everything about the VX.

Thanks mate! I watched a lot of your videos on the Protee when I was waiting for mine to arrive. I can't say I've seen that yet! 😂 The old double hit. I can only assume spin and spin axis readings are taken almost immediately from the device and so it will use that initial reading which happens so quickly that the unit doesn't see the second hit. This would have to be a very low percentage of shots that get double hit.

That is super exciting!! Take your time with alignment and mounting. I used lasers to get it right and then drew a line in the roof so I could mount it as square as possible. Ecosystem needs to be considered as well. I have Eye Mini with their cameras. Can the same cameras be used with Protee VX and how would go go about setting everything up as I believe an external software will need to be used. Thanks

Absolutely the Uneekor system is amazing and in my opinion is ahead of Protee at the moment! Uneekor are really killing it with their cameras, AI coaching and balance optix. It will definitely be fun to see where the Protee go with it I'm sure they have the same thing in mind.
