Ryan Kiesshauer How'd you get the MIO to work with your timeline? I have that same interface and it won't sync the changes, but it will fetch the presets
@fhelu9 жыл бұрын
That is awesome!! I recently purchased a Timeline and was on the fence between the Möbius and Eventide's H9. I leaning towards the H9 because of its ease of use as far as arranging presets. Being in a band that backs up two different solo artists where set lists change from gig to gig, I find that feature very helpful. I've officially made up my mind. Möbius it is. Thanks for the heads up about the software. Going to download it as soon as I get to my computer.

fhelu You will not be disappointed!
@humm1nb1rd9 жыл бұрын
fhelu the H9 software is loads better. The mobius sounds are way better then the modfactor / H9 imho. I've got the mobius but went for the space and pitchfactor for the other effetcs. Those two work with the H9 software and it's been nothing short of amazing as far as having a nice way to manage and create presets.

The Strymon website recommends: " a robust MIDI interface interface that uses dedicated drivers to operate reliably with your computer's specific operating system. They DO NOT recommend getting a plug and play..." Does the "Mio thing" crash on you...Is it good enough??
@vio4jesus7 жыл бұрын
Hi - Thanks for the tutorial. I'm new to Strymon pedals. I have a Mobius and Big Sky, and actually, I play violin. I was thinking to keep the first 'x' banks/presets as originals and then customized presets starting at like 40 or 50 on up. Any thinking on that? Maybe it doesn't matter - you can always save them on a PC and reload them I guess. Thanks
@kiesshauer7 жыл бұрын
Yep, you can load them however you want. You can also save out whatever you set up and reload the factory presets at any time. So unless you love the factory ones and use them regularly, there's not much reason to not overwrite them. Plus I think there are only 100 factory ones, so they repeat themselves every 100 banks if that makes sense.

Hi. Awesome vid. Thanks a bunch. I installed the app an it works amazing. Do you know where I can find (and download the presets) for those great guitar lead delays such as Steve Vai, Joe Satriani or Van Halen? All I find are presets for worship songs and and a few for some U2 songs. Thanks. Cheers!
@kiesshauer9 жыл бұрын
Thanks, and thanks for watching! I don't actually know about any presets for classic stuff; I would just google it (which I guess you've already done). You'll probably be better off just listening and trying to dial something in that's close on whatever delay you have -- or you could try looking on forums for basic settings for any delay pedal for each song.
@checocr9 жыл бұрын
Ryan Kiesshauer Thanks - That's what I'm trying with no success yet. Just wanted to see if there was an accurate preset out there already made. Eventhough I have downloaded pretty good ones, I still tweak them a little to my liking, because they might sound a bit different depending on the amp and guitars using (I mostly use a 2013 PRS Custom 24 and a Marshall JVM 210H 100w Head on a 1936 2x12 150w cab). I have some presets that I created that are pretty similar, but not 100%. I guess I will end up doing what we all do: play around with the TimeLine until I get what we want. Cheers my friend!

@aclawrence8 жыл бұрын
Mine wouldn't recognize either. After a little research I realized that you have to plug the white "In" end of the mio into the "out" on the strymon pedal and the black "out" of the mio into the "in" of the strymon pedal. I didn't catch that at first as I'm a newbie to the midi world and was getting quiet frustrated that I couldn't get the librarian to recognize during the midi setup.

Hey there I’m new to all this so my question may seem silly but my strymon came with a usb cable that connects from the pedal to computer can i just use that instead of the midi cable?
@kiesshauer5 жыл бұрын
Hey! There are no silly questions when you're new. :) But no, you can't use a standard USB cable; it's weird that it came with one, because it doesn't usually unless they've changed something...there isn't even a way to plug a USB into the unit, is there? Anyway, unless they've changed something, you have to have a MIDI interface of some kind; a plain MIDI cable won't do the trick either.
@roelmorales62889 жыл бұрын
hi there, how important is it to have an expensive midi cable like yours? i bought a cheaper one on ebay and its telling me the input and output are unresponsive. im afraid that my pedal might be defective since i bought it used.
@kiesshauer9 жыл бұрын
+Roel Morales The difference is that you have to have a MIDI interface, not just a midi cable -- a regular cable won't work because it has to have something to convert from USB to MIDI. If you do actually have an interface, just make sure it's updated and that you talk to the manufacturer. Mine wasn't working for awhile, but after a phone call we figured it out. Hope that helps!

Ryan Kiesshauer thanks for the reply, for nowni can't afford to buy a new laptop to download the software, since my old laptop dont support those requirements, Im new when it comes to timeline so just hoping if i can ask someone to share their patches for worship. Hello, I am using a macbook and i have a midi-usb (hosa USM-422). When I try the MIDI setup in the strymon librarian it just says no response. It looks like the midi-usb cable is working but it won't recognize it in the librarian. Can you help me?
@kiesshauer10 жыл бұрын
hmm...I assume you already went to settings>midi setup in librarian and selected your device from the list and ran the test to make sure the connection is there? the only other idea would be to make sure the hosa doens't need any kind of software...but i doubt that. outside of those i'm not sure. I've used the Uno (maybe by m-audio?) and i have the Mio usb interfaces on my macbook pro, and both have worked for me. let me know if any of that helps!

Thank You for the video, is possible manage the presets whit Interface Audio, for example Presonus Audio Box USB?
@kiesshauer8 жыл бұрын
Possible yes, if the interface has a MIDI component to it. But honestly, the Strymon stuff in particular is very picky about what interface it "likes", so I would follow the recommendations on Strymon's site and buy one they recommend.

Is there any way you can share presets for worship? Just got a timeline!
@kiesshauer8 жыл бұрын
Yup! Each preset can be saved as a file or as a whole collection and you can share them with people like any other file. As an aside though, I'd generally encourage people to generally build their own rather than share because it really helps get familiar with everything the pedal can do.
@dancole16128 жыл бұрын
A picked up a midi adapter, but my mac doesn't recognise the midi device. In the librarian it doesn't pick up the timeline either.
@kiesshauer8 жыл бұрын
+Dan Cole Is it just a plain usb to midi cable or is it actually an interface with a little box somewhere in the middle of the cable? If it's the former it won't work -- there needs to be some kind of interface to make the conversion work. If it is, I suppose it depends on what brand you have -- I use the Mio and it works great and was pretty cheap. Hope that helps!

You might be able to drag and drop...but you should google Nixie, their newer software. It's still in beta and crashes sometimes, but it is much more functional than the preset librarian.

Did you try it using the collection pane on the left side too? Like dropping files in there first? Cause I know you can drag a collection (which is multiple songs) into the window on the right and it will load them all. Sorry, I've never tried that. But worst case, you just drag them in one at a time! Or, if you don't need anything currently stored in your timeline, you could restore from a backup using either software. Hope that helps!

I still am foggy on how important this is. Been playing 35+ yrs but new to midi so bare with me. Just got a Strymon Big sky and told to get the midi as I would "regret not" so I did. So,,,,as I understand say you like a plate reverb, made some changes, saved it to bank 1. Foggy here but when I press far left button the plate I saved is there. Ok good so far. Now I spin the wheel and say use hall,edit and save it to 2. So now when I press the button twice its there correct? Continue to 20 if needed. I don't see the point of this. Is it for someone who for what ever reason has 100+ presets and rather than cycle though them via the button uses this software to preload the pedal? I thought this was a way to edit the reverb preset, being able to hear it, sculp it,save it to the pedal. Instead it appears just to be a way to load ones already made onto your device. Thanks, steep learning curve.
@kiesshauer7 жыл бұрын
I think I was replying to you on the BigSky video earlier today too. :) Let's see if I can break down what you're asking. So every 'bank' on the big sky has 3 presets in it -- A, B, and C, corresponding to the buttons on the actual unit. If you're in bank 00 and you mess with a plate and you want to save it, you hold down the button to save and then hit one of the 3 preset buttons (A, B, or C). Let's say you picked A and saved it there. From then on, when your'e in bank 00 and you press preset A, it will recall that patch until you write over it with something else or tweak it or whatever. Then you decide to mess with a hall and you like it, you save again, but this time to preset B. Now Bank 00 preset A is still your plate, but bank 00 preset B is your hall. And so on with C and on and on again up through all the banks. 100 total banks (00 - 99) and 3 presets per bank (A B and C) for a total of 300 presets. Where the software comes in is either loading someone else's patches somewhere, or reordering your patches, or renaming them a little more easily than you can on the unit, backing them up, etc.

Oh man I did not notice your name but you have some great info on the Strymon. *Thanks* Yeah last night I modified about 9, 3 per button but have not attempted renaming. I am now seriously weighing the midi's benefits and considering getting my $35 back . Thanks again for your time. Jim in SC

so, you cannot create presets, and you cannot reset the pedal with this software?
@kiesshauer7 жыл бұрын
You can reset the pedal on the pedal itself. You can create presets with the software too, I believe -- since creating is just renaming something. If you want to create an actual preset and the settings on it, you should download Strymon's Nixie software -- it's a little buggy, but let's you customize pretty much anything.

Ryan Kiesshauer haha! all good! i just bought the mio one yesterday (same exact one as yours) and when i downloaded the librarian software it downloads but it doesn't open, it gives me an agree or disagree page and i select agree and than it asks me to choose between two folders, spl or my applications. when i select spl it says it can't open and same with applications. I'm trying to get some church collective strymon timeline presets onto my timeline but somehow i can't lol.

Gabriel Valenzuela Hey, I got the same issue. Apparently it is a data package loss in the MIDI data transference. Maybe this helps. I contacted the Strymon support about the MIO MIDI cables. After following the following instructions they gave me, my MIO cable works perfectly (and keeps working) with no issues. I am able to do all in this video with no problems at all. This is the response and the instructions I got: Problems like this typically arise when using plug-and-play type MIDI interfaces like the one you purchased and tend to drop data packets when transferring data between our devices and the Librarian software. We recommend dedicated MIDI interfaces with developed drivers for your computer’s specific operating system version such as the Roland UM-ONE or the Yamaha UX-16. One thing to try is to change the MIDI Input/Output Configuration of the Librarian. Go to the VIEW option at the top of the screen and select CONSOLE which will open up at the bottom of the Librarian. Click your mouse on the bottom left corner of the console and type the following exactly as it appears: ioconf 128 10 then hit enter. There will not be any acknowledgement that anything happened, but if you type in ioconf once again and hit enter, it should say: ------------------------ Max Message Size: 128 bytes Delay Per Message Chunk: 10ms After making these changes, try using the Librarian once again.
