Man… idk. I’m a three stripe blue belt and I don’t get why people walk away. This isn’t supposed to be easy. It’s tough. Hell I had my good buddy leave after he got his purple belt. It blows my mind.

Most people have other priorities in life than to stick with BJJ. I joined knowing my end goal was purple belt.

People stop the jits due to its not a defense art anymore . They turned into a sport . I never won a fight on the ground in life . But congrats to your team member sticking it out . The only way I will learn the jits it's not Royce Gracie nor BJJ . Only the root of it all Japanese Jujitsu you learn all aspect Judo the jits punching kicking nerve and tissue damage.

It's typical with BJJ. Lots of instructors even say the promotions are not skill based. Huge likeability factor in promotion speed.
