This idea in some circles in the UK ie UKICE, that because the EU might show flexibility to Ukraine then flexibility could also be available to the UK is nonsensical. The EU has always shown flexiblity to exceptional circumstances, that's how it works. Or do the English assume that if anyone gets a concession they must also get it?
