With the amount of money and the exuberant lifestyle at stake, Hillsong has been aptly named Hellsong for many a good reason, and they will say whatever is needed to maintain the money flow and the continued blind leading the blind. Remember that when you mock God, bad things will happen, and there is such a thing as generational sin, which is what we see in Hillsong today. Only God can judge them now.

@@frolyhorn1426 Thank you. Indeed. But Brian Houston, in his own "wrong", is answerable to God. Sadly in Brian Houston's case it is more "Like (earthly) father, like son". Jesus Christ has made the way through confession, repentance, following and sanctification - towards glorification. Brian Houston needs to bow out as "gracefully" as he can - and show fruit of his repentance. Luke 9:23. John 15. There is no other way. John 14:6. And Romans chapter 6 and 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 John are explicitly loving and clear.

Andrew you do speak honestly. I personally don’t like him. I’ve been there once. Never again for me. You put in your tithe it’s to help the church run which all churches do. In 2011 the connect groups were asked for $600.00 a month each starting 2012. I suppose he’d flit off overseas who knows. My daughter decided she’d leave that was a lot of money for her. Found another great Church which she has many wonderful friends. They do some great things on holidays, day away. She told me she’ll never set foot in that place again. It was awful good friends which she’s lost except one. Brian can get out of this country and stay out as she’s concerned.

Don’t know what connect group you were apart of there are people that take advantage of others doesn’t mean it falls on Brian’s shoulders, perhaps you could’ve contacted Hillsong support team which I know personally some of the team who’ve been great support. @machtnichtsseimann Жыл бұрын
Actually, many people award such efforts, in either good or bad ways. The latter are enablers who will find no fault in their leader / cult of personality. There is too much we don't know behind-the-scenes. Don't worship any human being, be open-minded to the truth, even if it tarnishes one's view of their trusted leader. Which is why God will ultimately judge all of us. With Justice and Mercy. But we can do a LOT better in focusing on victims of abuse. I usually have great respect for the words of Andrew Bolt - but he’s been had here. Brian’s life went haywire long before the court case was initiated. An interview with a close associate stated that this pastor was aware of his father’s perversion with male adults in the mid 90s and did not remove him or report him to church officials. Even after his father was made to step down from preaching, the church still paid him. No-one is perfect but unfortunately Brian no longer meets the biblical criteria for church leadership … for starters he is still downplaying his tendency to indulge alcohol and it’s all the fault of anti anxiety pills. Repentance requires taking responsibility … Regardless, I wish him God’s best.

I speak as a believer and struggling follower of Jesus Christ of some nearly 20 years. Christianity and the Church was never, ever meant to be a big business. It was never meant to be called or kniwn as some brand such as 'Hillsong' 'Bethel' 'Jesus Culture'. It was never meant to be a huge money making machine, and let's be clear, they are multi million pound/dollar industries. If you read the Gospel accounts of Christ and Paul's letters, the picture you get is not the picture we see today. Church going today has turned into pop like concerts. Bright lights, bands sounding more like Coldplay, rock star preachers preaching a cotton wool, easy going gospel. What I see today is a bunch of denominations more akin to the ways of the world rather than the way of Almighty God aka Jesus Christ. I have no time for these 'Christian Movements'. 0:01

At the end of the day - the truth remains. Hillsong is not a biblically sound church. Brian deserves to be forgiven as we all fall short and no one is perfect, but there’s a bigger problem that became more apparent over the years of growth (I was an attendee of Hillsong since the 1998 to approx 2015) - Brian’s God complex. ALL glory, ALL focus, ALL recognition, belongs to God and not man. One thing is for sure, too much money and fame will ultimately corrupt an individual or organisation. Everything this church was about (not sure what it’s like now), was prosperity, unbiblical practices such as women pastors, tithing in the expectations of receiving monetary blessings or success in return, commerce and business inside a place of worship- remember Jesus knocked down the stalls in the place he said was for prayer and worship, and promoting a loose type of lukewarm Christian lifestyle, etc. What happened to Brian was a wake up call for him to come to full repentance of not just this issue, but many issues. It’s between God and himself, who am I to judge. I hope that Brian understands this.

The Hillsong Church is steeped in controversy and wrongdoings and Brian Houston has been in the middle of it. Disappointed that Bolt goes into bat for him and gives him a platform again. The Hillsong church is all about the money and is no different to a whole host of US tele evangelists. To make it worse George Pell is also mentioned in a positive light. What utter rot. Guilty people make excuses and Houston is blaming incidents on prescription drugs. Pathetic.

First, we recognize the real enemy here, intentional or unintentional, we fall short and fall into sin, but we have no right to judge. The enemy is just making people look bad. He might be successful in putting a good man down, but in the end, God is orchestrating a victorious come back for the Hillsong church anf Brian Houston. It will be glorious when God's hands work on that.

@@vincentdeepak Thank you for your reply! I concur. If Brian Houston was aware of something that should have been dealt with from a moral point of view and legal point of view and he chose not to deal with it - in fact he tried to cover it up - and still does so! That is, of course very different from those who sin and repent thereof. And that we don't deliberately try to justify it or excuse it when confronted. The leaders of the church have a bigger responsibility than the members of the congregation - in this regard. Why were they silent! Do they not know the admonition of the Bible - the inspired, inerrant, authoritative, uncompromising Word of God. Sadly Mr Houston, a narcissist and egotist of note, lives in his fantasy world and continues to justify his behaviour while playing the sympathy card - saying that he did nothing wrong - or at most - admitting weakly that he perhaps should not have done this or that. When his fall (exposure) came - he did not fall before God in repentance, but jetted over to USA and was apprehended there for drunken driving! A married man, he petitioned and made advances to young girls, lied about "mistaking the room" trying to enter the hotel room of one, continued his drinking (I believe he gave up his sleeping pills "since 2012" - and the rest?) and the spending of millions of dollars (on what - the "good life" - certainly not the advancement of the Gospel). Yes of course there is forgiveness - but you can't receive forgiveness if you haven't asked for it (in confession and repentance and displaying the fruit thereof towards sanctification to the glory of God) and as long as you keep denying you have done nothing wrong - you obviously won't ask forgiveness for those actions. "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we CONFESS our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness". 1John 1:8-10. Romans 6 is clear. As is Hebrews 4:12-13. Nice to chat. Malachi 3:16.

@@selah181💯 agree with you. When much is given, much more is expected. He never took accountability for his own actions towards these women. He used his stress from his father’s incident to excuse his behaviour. You’re so right, he is a married man and as a minister of the gospel he needs to be held accountable. Here was his opportunity to humble himself, accept responsibility and publicly repent. I believe at one time back in the day Hillsongs had an anointing on their worship but somehow they lost their way. Sadly when we try and cover up our sins this is the end result, we reap what we sow and jumping on the false prosperity preaching is a neon light on that wide road to destruction. As Brian said…him and his wife will probably spend more time overseas where their is more opportunities….for what? People need to follow Jesus, not man, that way we’ll know if their part of the flock or a wolf dressed in sheep’s clothing.

Concealing a felony has been a crime under the crimes act for decades - it is NOT a new law. The law in this respect does NOT take into account whether or not the victim wants the crime investigated. The law is clear and individuals do not have the right to discretion as to whether a crime is reported or not. Covering up a felony is a crime and has been written into law in the Crimes Act for over 100 years! When I approached Houston about one of his friends covering up the rape of a child and asked for his assistance he told me he didn't believe my "story" and turned his back and walked away. It is sworn to in the Royal Commission in my testimony and is written about in my book. My "story" as Houston dismissed it, was found to be absolutely true in every respect and the friend of Houston's (and a colleague of his in the Christian church) later admitted in a court of law he had covered up the crime! No apology to me from Houston despite my writing to him and pointing this out to him, just a bit more abuse. Whether of not one admires Houston is NOT the issue - he and others were guilty of covering up a felony despite the machinations of many and despite what a court may have decided. The facts cannot be dictated by emotion (or admiration). Unlike many of Houstons' cheer squad, I have first-hand experience with this fellow.
@becr9369 Жыл бұрын
@kerriferguson2023 thank you for that information, I found this interview interesting, but I wouldn't say I'm a 'cheer squad' for this man, I really don't know enough about the situation, however your insight is valuable and given me a greater understanding of the law in these instances. I do think, though, that 40 years ago, people didn't always have us much understanding on how to deal with these situations as they do now. Houstens situation may be different, I'm just speaking generally. I am not saying it was a good thing.. I'm just making an observation. Understanding and education is much improved nowadays.. but still a long way to go to be sure.
@kerriferguson2023 Жыл бұрын
@@becr9369 Thank you for your measured and reasonable comment. It makes a change from the usual cheer squad for Houston and Hillsong. The point that many people seem to not understand, or perhaps be aware of, is that this has NOT just raised its head now. There are many who have been fighting for decades to have Houston come clean on this and I am one of them so am well aware of the situation. This is not just a case of Brian being charged now, but rather one should be aware that some have been trying to get this matter dealt with for decades!!! For people to be stating that it is an old matter are ignorant of how long some have been fighting for justice for so many years! Had Brian come clean years ago instead of ignoring those he damaged by his behaviour and attempting to paint them as the "bad guys" it could have all been dealt with Biblically if the leaders had been behaving as the bible instructs them. There were too many in government and the Police Department aiding the Houston family in evading their responsibilities in my opinion. This is only ONE issue regarding Brian's aberrant behaviour. I have sworn to it at the Royal Commission and in Police statements and it is outlined in my autobiography! Do look further than this one issue for other examples of Brian's general behaviour. It does NOT reach the standard of what the Bible states is required of a leader! I was "involved" forty years ago" with such a problem within the church and I knew very well how to deal with it even then..... there is no excuse ...... never, ever.... for the behaviour of these paedophile protectors. Common sense, decency and morality do not change with the passage of time.

There's only one criminal thing, the law itself. All these cases suffer the same bottom line. There should clearly be a defined statute of limitations. Governments left and right should legislate this. Finalizing a case more than half a century after an alleged incident is so wrong. Witnesses have passed away, credible evidence is lost and the list goes on. The law needs to wake up to itself. Congratulations Brian Houston.
