What pissed me off is the way they tried to explain things away & trivialising the matter, even apologising for NOT educating us earlier that our nric is not confidential! An insult to my intellect.

Should members of the public sign a petition to request Minister Josephine Teo to step down from Singapore's Parliament for this serious, potentially criminal measure taken pre-emptively by ACRA, causing furore over the fiasco?

If government wants to give us better protection, then govt medical premises should not ask for patient's ic numbers orally as persons nearby too could hear thereby breaching terms of Data Protection Act by Govt staff.
they need to assume Singaporeans are not so easily alarmed and just say that algorithms can uncover masked information. Just do it. In the end thinking too much caused alarm anyways. the organisations that use nric numbers are cpf, mom.
