I remember coming across this one on NETFLIX one day, and had never heard about it at all so I checked it out. Without having any spoilers or knowing anything at all about it, I thought it was pretty damn awesome! The twist when PETER discovers Miles is human-like and demands to know why they are attacking to no avail. Then finally, when Miles says he can save ALICE and proceeds to rip open her torso exposing her electronics was a pretty cool reveal. And then when Peter also cuts open his own torso to reveal that he too is a synthetic. It all comes together at that moment that PETER, ALICE, and everyone else are all synthetics, and the invaders are just humans who are trying to take back their planet which they were forced to flee from by the robots. I was pretty surprised by the twist and thought it was well done.

They uh... They didn't. The synthetics knew they were robots, but after the war they wanted to forget about all the killing they did, so they wiped their own memories, including that they were robots. If they remembered they were robots, they'd wonder who made them, and where they went, after all.

@@black-ip6bd Because if they were mindless robots, they'd be way less effective at anything outside of working in a factory or cleaning, or some other mindless repetitive action. It's the difference between using google to try to find some info, and asking an AI program like chatGPT (assuming it was "perfected" and didn't give false info all the time). You can get the answer eventually with google, but it's going to take a lot longer than just asking the computer with normal words. As for looking like humans, it's probably because they wanted them to blend into society better, and if you're interacting with them on a daily basis that'd be important. Not to mention that they were being used to fill in as a family unit: the younger girls were the "daughters" of a family, after all.

I love this movie! We watched it because of Peña and Caplan and thoroughly enjoyed it. One of the first things we pointed out was "why is she in full makeup and sleeping?" Then it was "why is everyone's makeup always perfect?" Then the twist was revealed and we were like "makes sense." 😂

You can tell the person who wrote this had a privileged childhood because a parent working late triggers an argument. Whereas normal people are used to going weeks as a kid without your schedule lining up with one or more parents. I remember my dad always working nights, so I would see him at the end of his day when he would make me breakfast, and that would be it.
