Now compare the latitudes of Florida to those of Germany. Berlin in northeast Germany, for instance, is located as far north on the globe as Calgary, Alberta in Canada. Due to the Gulf Stream northwestern Europe isn't as cold as western or central Canada, but it is usually much cooler there than in the states that border the Gulf of Mexico (which is more comparable to the Mediterranean Sea and northern Africa).

Ok kids, here’s what you do- first, use thermometer and find out if it really is hotter inside than out. (A phone app , if you can’t get one at a hardware store) . Get more fans. Open the windows wide all night, and shut them as soon as you get up. (If your house doesn’t get hotter than outside- unter dem Dach might make that not so) Shade your windows from the outside if you can. And use the fans!

As a Swabian I don't have to grill burgers. I'll grill Fleischküchle. But to be fair it's cevapcici more often. I like those conversations very much. And for Valerie: if the delivery service fails to drop the package where it's supposed to be they do fail at providing a good service. I don't think that there's much to feel bad about or feel that it would be too German. They're not supposed to play hiding Easter eggs with stuff you've possibly paid for already.

Nothing against electric grills. They are perfect for urban areas where you don't want to bother others with the smell of burning coal. And Liam being so shocked by the court ruling shows that he is not as germanized as he believes he is. ;) That's a totally reasonable ruling. The general rule should indeed be not more than once a week if you live somewhere were the smoke or the get together will disturb others. My former neighbour was someone who would strecth that in the summer. Especially because he never warned me in advance and I have my windows open in the kitchen most of the time and so the smell would be right in my kitchen. So our solution was, that I asked him to simply come up before he starts the grill and warn me, so that I can close down the windows. That worked and it never bothered me again. But that only worked because he lived right below me. If it had been another person that I could not get in direct contact with, it would have probably ended up with me waving court rulings at his face. As for party noise: I have zero patience with that stuff. In my experience asking nicely in person to turn it down leads to you having to go at least a second time. I simply expect adults to know the rules and that you are supposed to keep quiet after 22:00. So I WILL call the police after 0:00, because I very much know that it will still take at least 90 minutes and probably two visits from the police until it is really quiet. And by quiet I mean QUIET. No music and no conversations to be heard. My brain is incabable of switching off when I hear people talking, I always try to listen in what people say.
