MIT Jameel Clinic PI Dina Katabi led a team of researchers to develop an AI-powered that can detect Parkinson's disease just by monitoring nocturnal breathing patterns (i.e. breathing while sleeping) without making any physical contact whatsoever.
Doctoral student Yuzhe Yang, the lead author, and postdoc Yuan Yuan trained a neural network to discern the severity of someone’s Parkinson’s disease and track the progression of their disease over time.
