I never got the collecting vintage guitars, tech has gotten better since then, as a guy who does repairs it's like a mechanic getting a really old car that comes in for a specific problem. Then upon inspection you find a whole bunch of other issues.

More people should spend the $$$ on lessons , up close and personal. The best players could play on a plank and still bring the house down. The prestige of being able to afford a $$$ guitar is now more important to some and over shadowed by some vanity owners that can’t play a lick. Chase skill not wood and varnish…..

@@guitarhobbywithdannythemedic It really is ridiculous. I have played the John Sebastian Burst, I have played "Hank" and I have been around Eddie King's Red Eye while visiting him at his home. I do hope to play Pearly Gates one day as Billy moved here about 20 minutes from our ranch. They are ok. They are guitars. That is really all I have to say about them.

Lol, love these gibson bashing videos, hahaha. I still love my Gibson R8, stupidly expensive, but it is really amazing. Still Im selling it cos im more into Teles now, and the Eastman SB59/v is just as good and Im happy with only 1 LP style guitar. But I do love the Gibson R8. Gibson USA is fine, but I can understand why people can be unhappy with those.

Scarcity and inherent value are two different things. The demand in 58/59 limited the production of them. So what's their present value tied to? Why have their limited amounts come in demand? It's because of non-musical/instrumental factors like who plays one, the popularity of the song/band, and being identified with other non-instrumental considerations -like coolness. If you think their value is tied to re-creating the tone or `that sound'', that's besides the point. I guess the other side of the coin is that the 58/59 were like some hidden Stradivari that subsequently came to light. Isn't beauty in the eyes of the beholder? I forget to ask: 'How's the burger? Worth $75?
