Never underestimate old people… even if they’re not masters of anything. They have very little to fear from a life sentence and a lifetime of experience. 😅

Great that you honored these GMs and founders. I trained with 3 of them. You speeded up some of the footage to make it look even faster. I think this is not necessary. They were impressive with their real speed and power. But thanks for honoring them.

Esgrima aka Escrima (arnis) originated with the spanish colonizers. Before disagreeing, ask why almost all our terminology in Arnis, Escrima pseudo-kali are spanish terminology: espada y daga, doble daga, doble espanda, mano a mano, baston y daga, etc.etc. These are sword & dagger DUELING arts, not tribal melee warfare arts using spear & shield, sword & shield, bow & arrows. This is an evasive fencing art designed for dueling. Esgrima/Escrima means 'fencing' in old colonial spanish. Traditional Pinoy Tribal warfare was melee combat using shields with spear, axes or sword for close assaults. Arrows from long range. The spanish introduced Esgrima fencing, dueling, when they colonized the islands. The angles, footwork, technical terms, of escrima, arnis, pseudo-kali are plagiarized from Spanish La Destreza fencing.

This is a very dumb comment my unknown friend. You are right about the Spanish influence, but this is a much older art than that. You should learn more before you talk again. Pugay!

Kali or Kalari was introduced by Sri Vijayan people from Rarh Sri Vijaya or Sir Vijaya ( Bisaya)was prince of Rarh. His empire streches to Southeast Asia and was called East Indies. His base in Maharlika ( Philippines) was in Cebu and Vijayas Islands where Magellan was killed by Lapu Lapu sword The Spaniards came back with more firepower and subdued the locals. The art of sword fighting was then suppressed and just practiced and taught in the secrets or just by using sticks. The Spaniards also suppressed our languages so we adopt Spanish language because they start naming us in Spanish. Our languages, culture and arts were considered inferior to Western. It was to inflict inferiority complex Our ancient language is 40% Sanskrit. Some examples Guru=Teacher Bodhi=inner self Bhai= Brother in Bisaya Devata= Diwata Uma =Farm or pleasant place to dwell Mahal =Adored Hare= King or Lord Rajah = Ruler or Datu Sama samaj = to go together Champa Gita = our national flower

@@richardunica3542 Mindanao sword fighting technique is unique. My dad had collected Muslim swords. Due to the influence of Arabs and Indians, the steel is way superior to Spanish rifles and swords that it could cut through and split the Spanish rifles This was one of the reasons why Spaniards run away from Mindanao. the Japanese during world War 2 and the Americans after world War 2 tried but was terrified and leave Mindanao alone. The Americans invented the Colt model 1911 .45 ACP especially to knock down those sword fighters easily but still without no results because their limbs were tightened so they don't bleed easily and die Spaniards called them " LOS JURAMENTADOS . They took oath to God Almighty to die to protect their families and people from invaders. Salute to our Guru, fellow Kali practitioners! It's our duty to preserve this art

No, just because they have Spanish names, it does not mean it came from Spain. My instructor said it came from India, then to Indonesia then Philippines
