He should have stayed at the job he loved on the parks dept. In NY. Although we as fans wouldn't have had the pleasure of his music I have to believe it would have been the best for him in the long run. He would probably still be alive and wouldn't have had the substance issues he developed to cope with fame.

True. However, he died of septicimia. Had he gone to a Dr. even a day sooner, he would not have died when he did. I'm just grateful to have seen Type O live numerous times, and get to spend a little time with him backstage each time. Amazing guy.

yes, it was touring that ruined him physically and mentally not stomach ailments or heart attach but alchohol and substances- too sensitive to take touring which he hated- but fate is fate, destiny is destiny, the music lives on.......

Hate to say it but seems like he got what he wanted...life wasn’t kind to Peter Steele...most don’t realize the suffering he endured in his youth and how the lifestyle of being a performer did not suit him well as an adult...Steele was a brilliant writer of poetry & song...a musical genius really like Andrew Partridge of XTC...to be subjected to the constraints of touring & having to appease audiences with live offerings of his greatness was too much for him...this wonderful man belonged in the studio & when he felt up to it, on the front porch of his Brooklyn home doing his lovely songs & spooky lullabies with no pressure from the business end of that pop music machine that sucks the life out of people.
