"Looking at hospitals Victorian/Feeling as helpless as the Elephant Man" always makes me think of the hospital across from Parc Lafontaine here in Montreal (Rufus' hometown), where I was kept on guard after a breakdown. I too know what it's like to "go from wanting to be someone" to being "drunk and wearing flip-flops on Fifth Avenue"...

This is an interesting vid. thanks. I appreciate seeing Rufus in what must have been his 'drunk and wearing flip-flops on Fifth Ave.' period. But thankfully those demons hadn't a chance against such a singular creativity and talent. I enjoy the music he has written since all the more knowing what we could have lost and dedicate it to those who didn't survive

Have you seen his documentary? It was interesting hearing his mom saying "we were concerned but we knew Rufus. He was too ambitious to let that lifestyle take his dreams from him." And that was true. He's gifted with self awareness, took the lesson and grew.

Brilliant cover, better than the album version, easy. Personally, in point of style (clothes and hair and such), I much prefer his simpler, earlier look to his current kitschy-fabulous thing. But that's a minor point. The music's the thing.
