Ski jumper Takanashi Sara has been learning about climate change and taking part in activities to protect snow-covered mountains, as she feels a sense of crisis that the next generation of children may not be able to enjoy snow sports due to the lack of snow caused by global warming.
Sara visited the Republic of Palau, an island nation in the Pacific Ocean.
Palau is blessed with its beautiful World Heritage-listed coastal ecosystems, including its oceans, forests, coral reefs and mangroves. However, it also faces problems such as the the disposal of waste caused by typhoons and due to the development of its tourism industry. It is important to improve the sanitary environment and conserve the natural environment by properly disposing of waste in a limited land area.
In addition, initiatives are being promoted towards a recycling-oriented society, such as the promotion of recycling activities by residents and the operation of a glass studio that uses energy generated from waste.
In this video, you will learn about Palau's efforts to realize a Sustainable Society, together with JICA.
