Ski jumper Sara Takanashi has been learning about climate change and taking part in activities to protect snow-covered mountains, as she feels a sense of crisis that the next generation of children may not be able to enjoy snow sports due to the lack of snow caused by global warming. Sara visited the Republic of Palau, an island nation that is affected by climate change.
Palau benefits from its beautiful World Heritage-listed ocean, forests, coral reefs and mangroves, and other diverse coastal ecosystems. However,in recent years, it has been threatened by climate change and other factors, such as coral bleaching and serious damage caused by natural disasters.
In this video, you will learn about the climate change action that Palau is working on with JICA, together with Sara Takanashi. Through a conversation with the President of Palau, we will introduce JICA's efforts in Palau towards a sustainable future.
