This is amazing, absolutely beautiful. I like how the staff come together to eat after the service. And I see chefs also washing dishes sometimes not just scullers ( even on the shomax story I saw this ). I've never seen a restaurant of this kind, chef Jan acts with so much humility , so much UBUNTU, and unashamed of the culture he comes from🙌 this is a Dream for some of us but also an inspiration that it's possible.

I am such a fan, Jan-Hendrik, jy sal die seker nooit lees nie, maar ek moet net laat weet, (just in case you do read), I am not a kitchen person, food for me is there to fill an empty stomach, but boy oh boy are you an inspiration! I even have one of your books and its right next to my original "kook en geniet"... I see food in such a different way now.. oh and I am a South African born German, still speak german😊 Cheers to you and your other fan's🥂

Beautifully told story! I now want to visit Nice just to go to Restaurant JAN!! It also took me back to that sumptuous experience at KleinJan in the Kalahari. I now see and understand your approach to creating such experiences. I absolutely love the notion that the restaurant and the team are a single organism that defines its life. All aspects of the dining experience are carefully executed to keep the organism alive and thriving. Bravo, Jan!!
