I am an old fella who has spent much of his life working in poetry, review writing & literary essays. Yes, I know, very fortunate. I love Scotland, have Scottish ancestry (clan Gordon), & always dreamed of travelling to the Orkneys to get closer to George MacKay Brown. It was Tolkien who started it all for me. I love fantasy, magical realism & mythology, but poetry (obviously) is my big obsession. Yes, I've just launched onto KZbin, & the tech stuff is daunting, but let's muddle through. Time to have a go! I look forward to following your book adventures. Thanks for the bookish inspiration.

Crocheting is so relaxing! And I’m the same way, it’s definitely a cold-weather hobby for me too. I’m not ashamed to say that I devoured the Twilight series as well. I honestly didn’t even realize so many people disliked it until I joined booktube. 😂 I also really enjoy nature and animals and I try to get outside for a walk every single day! It really helps during the winter months for me as well. 🌱 Loved getting to know you a little bit through your video and I think you’ll really enjoy booktube, you’re a natural! ✨

Crochet is such a great activity for listening to audio books and podcasts too! On of the only ways I feel like I can successfully multitask 😝 I definitely think the later Twilight movies influenced the general sway of peoples opinions! But it’s also meant to just be an entertaining read and I think sometimes people forget that. It’s definitely entertaining to me ☺️ thank you so so much for the warm welcome and watching my videos! You're off to a great start there, Allie. As for your questions: one advice I would give is not to obsess over numbers and analytics. Yes, the stats might look a bit down, until they are not. Don't let them discourage you and don't give up. As for the second question: whoever told you we have any self-control in bookstores was telling a blatant lie :D Keep it up and if you ever have a question about anything, just give a shout always happy to help :)

That's really good advice! It can be so easy to get caught up in numbers nowadays especially with so many analytic tools at our fingertips. @@TheBookAllie I have a somewhat difficult relationship with L&L myself: it does do what it says on the tin (cosy, low stakes, ...) but I found it to be almost too cosy...I wanted a bit more 'bite' (a plot, more character depth). The second book did deliver on that for me.

I too loved Love Hypothesis and I had a great time with Iron Flame. I agree it’s a slower going book but I still had a lot of fun with the story. @@TheBookAllie Yeah, I have found a few lighter fantasy books that I've enjoyed, I can't see pictures in my head though so I think that makes a lot of fantasy a bit inaccessible for me with the crazy amount of world building. Being unable to imagine that world kind of ruins the fun for me.

That's a really interesting perspective! I totally get how that would make fantasy more difficult to get into. I really like contemporary fiction as well and like relating to the characters in those books more, which is definitely easier to do when there aren't fire breathing dragons breathing down the characters necks 😋😋@@thatgrimreader
