Fantastic Simon, the red kite is my favourite raptor, I’m always on the hunt to photograph them, buzzards also 😊

Simon, I love your videos. I know you don't like talking about settings, and I understand the basics of fps, but you seem to move seemlessly between real-time and slow motion and I don't understand how (and Google doesn't help).

I shoot 24fps for the PTC sections and 120fps for the wildlife. Sometime I’ll shoot 60fps when the content is unpredictable. The end timeline is 24 but the final edit is varied.

Nice job! Did you have someone else photographing you or did you bring a second setup into the woods and then photograph yourself? How many days did you spend making this video?

Filmed myself with an Sony A7Siii with Sigma 35. Broke out the 70-200 too for the tighter shots. Took me 2 late afternoons which included the research and an evening to edit.

Hi. I love your content. The composition, colours and commentary are fantastic. I am trying my hand at wildlife videography. Im looking to get an external monitor. I see you use the ninja v. The info on external monitors are a minefield…so my question is when recording 4k 100p does the monitor still display image for you? I dont want the ninja to record externally, recording will be done in camera, I just want to know will the image and functions still be displayed on the monitor while shooting 4k 100p. Thanks again 😊

Hey thanks for the lovely feedback. I record my regular 24 & 60fps on the Ninja V and 120fps in-camera as the monitor doesn't support 60+. And yes, when shooting 120fps I can see everything as you would on a regular monitor. There are cheaper monitor options that will give you same views (false colour, peaking etc) especially if you're not using the record function.

@@SimonMcCabe Thanks for the quick response. Ok that puts my confusion at rest. With other cheaper monitors that cannot record themselves, a lot of them say output maxed at 4k 60p so I worry that those monitors would not display image at 120p. I think Ninja is a safe bet then and I have the added option to record externally at a later stage (once a learn the pro res, raw etc codec workflow haha). Thanks again and your videos are a real inspiration for me!!

Reds are one of my favorite raptors. The epicentre of the Redkite population is mid wales. Since their introduction they have started to migrate across the UK. One of the success stories for British wildlife. A magnifisent bird. The 200/600 is a great peice of glass. I use it on my A1 and feel spoilt when I do find time to venture out. If you ever get the oppertunity to venture further north. Go check out the White tailed sea eagle on the isle of mull ;). That will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand proud.

I love the work you do, always absolutely stunning. It's only when you are filming and narrating a short piece like this do you get the true recognition you deserve.
