Looks like a beautiful day out👍 Cruden Bay was one of the very first places I launched a boat myself - almost 40 years ago! Nice to see a few plaice around, as there used to be some chunky specimens on that coastline before they were trawled almost into oblivion. Good luck with the new trailer, you'll certainly find the roller coaster style much easier than bunk supports. Most times I find that I can keep my trailer bearings safely out the water too, which is a definite bonus.

Thanks Doug, hopefully the smaller specimens we put back will grow on. However, I doubt I'll ever see fish the size of those from days of old. I have been watching how and where you launch your Orkney and feel the new trailer is going to open up more opportunities for me. I'm also getting the hang of using ropes to keep the car on solid ground. Thanks for watching commenting.

PS give me a shout if you want to re visit your old grounds. Your welcome aboard Reel Time or taking both boats out.

@@anotherangleUK Rather ironically, and weather permitting, I will be raiding the Moray Firth haddock stocks later this week. From a friends boat rather than my own though - at least it saves me a long tow there and back. A haddock free freezer awaits, so here's hoping they're hungry (there're my favourite fishy snack😃)

Tight lines for the Haddock. I'll keep my eye on your channel / blog to see how you get on.

Thanks for watching and commenting. Gordon's Plaice was a good fish and the Haddock was unexpected, both in size but returned to grow bigger.

What a slipway!! Great condition, good car park and only £5!! Also what a lovely day to be out on the water too. Reel time's going to love that new trailer and I bet she slips on and off that so much easier now!

Thanks 👍. It is a great little slip but limited by tide. That harbour almost dries right out on spring tides.

Thanks Steve. I was surprised by the Haddock as they are normally further out. I've had a few new species aboard the boat this year. Hope you're getting out on the SIB. Stay safe and tight lines.

Some fine views of a beautiful part of the coast, and great to see he boat back in the water. Some awkward work setting up the new trailer, but I'm sure it'll be worth it.

Thanks, I've been meaning to get out on the boat around this coast for ages. The roller trailer will hopefully make things easier. Set up did take a bit of faffing but as you say worth it in the long run.

Our boat ramps leave a lot to be desired. Being able to rope the boat in and out is essential. Small Orkney Coastliners make the job easier.

Thanks mate, we seem to be getting quite a few Haddock at the moment. That trailer has made launch and recovery a lot easier. I don't have to submerge the wheel bearings and the boat just rolls off and back on easy. Well worth the upgrade.

This was an awesome watch Phil, very entertaining with some wonderful fish. A plaice in the north east is quite rare in my opinion, brilliant to know they are there. I think you had a few first time fish aboard Reel Time too👌hats of to Gordon for helping you out with the boat trailer 👍stunning little east coast harbour in rugged surroundings

I have the same boat and attached another winch on the opposite of the parking wheel. I put 40m of 5mm Dyneema on the drum and can pull the trailer up the beach. A hand truck type wheel on the front helps a lot.

Hi thanks for that info. On the starboard or right side of the trailer the manufacturer SBS added a step to the trailer. I generally climb in from that side.

When we do get good weather it can be amazing. Unfortunately it has been in rather short supply so far this year. The little harbour dries right out so well worth reading tide time twice or you're out for a long day. 😃

@anotherangleUK trailer looks great, I used to be able to recover my coastliner off the beach when the tide had gone out, let the front of the trailer rise and it winched straight on because of the rollers swing beam
@anotherangleUK

That's the type of trailer I've bought, swing beam and rollers. We retrieved just as you've described due to low water. A lot of my launch sites involve ropes as I've just 2WD.
