I am a Christian who is Protestant. I've attended Baptist, Presbyterian, and non-denomination churches over the course of my life. There are some theological differences and probably more importantly, differences in worship styles and history, between these denominations. What I love is when churches work together to make sure the needs of the community are being served. This happens when churches support each other, come together, talk, and decide not to replicate the same ministry, but support others that are working and develop those that don't yet exist. Good for these guys though!
@DanielMamora19 күн бұрын
This is what I love! Most prominent Protestant denominations usually agree line-on-line on salvation doctrine, but may differ on non-salvation issues, but won’t let that divide them from working together. If salvation doctrine changes, then that becomes an issue. But doctrines that have nothing to do with how you get saved shouldn’t be divisive and we should learn from each other so that we can be more like Christ
@rh1003319 күн бұрын
I think it would have been more interesting if one of the pastors was Anglican or Lutheran. They have a more liturgical style of worship. I'm sure a Roman Catholic priest or Orthodox couldn't agree to a swap.

When every person who has ever existed, stands before their Creator, where there is no error, unlike in this world, the intolerance for those who believe that tolerance is acceptable to Him, as opposed to Repentance and Faith in His Son, The Lord Jesus Christ, and His shed blood as the only Remedy for, and the only Deliverance from sin, will become terrifyingly clear. Do not fail to come to grips with this reality. HE is not willing that ANY would perish, but that ALL would Come To Him in repentance and faith because of his loving kindness and mercy he has revealed to us.

Jesus taught that the primary commands are to love God and love your neighbor as yourself. If you can't tolerate someone of the same race, gender, age and religion as yourself then how can you claim to be following the gospel? This is why most American Christians are not really Christian- they are taught partisan politics in place of Jesus teaching because they don't want to love their neighbors

Most of Midland's Methodist churches have disaffiliated from the UMC and moved to the GMC, along with two-thirds of the Northwest Texas Conference which extends from the Panhandle to Abilene to Midland (neighboring Odessa is in the New Mexico Conference), and NWTX will be merging with the Central and North Texas Conferences to become the Horizon Texas Conference of the UMC.

It appears these men are united in the truth of the Bible. That is a good thing. You can have differences on non essentials but if you get the gospel wrong you’re in trouble. The gospel as found in scripture is that Christ in God incarnate who died for our sins and rose again on the third day for our righteousness. Those who preach “another’ Gospel are damned per Galatians chapter one. There is no other way to eternal life than Christ.

I believe that the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior is the act of the Gospel of Christ unto salvation. I believe that we should follow this same approach to being obedient to the command whereas Jesus taught His disciples to go teach and baptize in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. Not all religions of faith believe that water baptism is essential to salvation. This life is filled with beautiful godly people; however, the scripture says that there is a way that seems right to a man, but the end thereof is the way of death. God is not willing that any should perish but that all will come to repentance. God wants to have a personal relationship with us all...❤

Scripture does NOT teach that baptism is essential to salvation. It is an outward symbol of an inward work of Christ in us. Baptism does not save anyone.

In the 1960s, and again in the 1990’s, my father preached at the Baptist church, and the Presbyterian church, EVERY SUNDAY. Two different towns, one in South Dakota, and one in Idaho. Neither church could afford a full time pastor, (in the 60’s, that was $5000 a year, total). He had to get special “permission” from the Presbyterian national leadership both times. I would say over the years, it isn’t the message of Christ, or the Bible that has changed. It is the religion of progressiveness. Leadership in some denominations (including one I attended), that felt that “the Bible didn’t really mean that part”. Or, that was translated wrong.
@TedHall-k7v21 күн бұрын
I can sincerely identify with your comments. The message of Christ and the Bible have not changed. Mankind's desire, ultimately, boils down to a mixture of self versus God. When it gets out of balance the tendency lean toward self. The old story from the beginning repeats itself no matter how we relabel it: good versus evil; obedience vs disobedience. To love God, to love neighbor, and my enemies. For me, it seems we must resolve to agree to,disagree among differences, yet maintain that love God demonstrated through His Son's sacrificial love on the cross for our salvation. This has helped me in 56 years of marriage to my relationship with my wife. The road to maturing love is always sacrificial on both parts. But never give disagreement evil/sin to divide us - through thick and thin, and imperfect hardship. We fall short, but grace is never discarded. Satan never grows tired in his attempt to dividing and separating love. Love that holds fast defeats his every move against our fleshly desires. May God bless.

0:26 - That's the best Tex Mex in Midland - Gerardo's. 1:09 - 65%? Not hardly. I am on the roads every Sunday in that county while I drive to work (at a church), and the difference in traffic between Sunday morning and Monday morning is (almost) as stark as anywhere else in the south. I like this idea in general. However (and I don't know that our Golf Course Road Church of Christ teaches this anymore), the Church of Christ's official position is that baptism in a Church of Christ (and therefore membership in a Church of Christ) is required for salvation, which is substantively different than what the other denominations represented in this video believe. So that is the only problem there - not the same gospel. Church of Christ teaches a heteros gospel, not an allos gospel. Again, I think this particular Church of Christ has (possibly?) walked away from that, and if so, that would be a great reason to leave the Church of Christ network/affiliation. And responding (some) to the comment on BIPOC Pastors not being involved: I have put in calls and emails to every black Pastor in the area that I could find (I am white/caucasian) in an effort to have coffee or lunch once or twice a month, something like that, in order to pray together and discuss how to best minister across cultural boundaries related to melanin level, and received absolutely no response. As in, zero.
