i just realized that the rewinding effect isn’t siffrin looping back a bit, it’s the universe righting itself and making sif forget what he was thinking/talking about because as far as anyone should think, that island doesnt exist
@lisatroiani6119Ай бұрын
fun fact: it’s the exact same effect that happens when you look at a piece of equipment that you already have

It is even worse because the reason that Siffrin could remember the story at all is because they didn’t think about it. They knew the reason without thinking but when they started thinking about what they did after; the Universe stepped in.

It's really sad to think that maybe Siffrin doesn't have a bad memory at all, but he may very well forget everything because they make him think of home...
@crowsenpai56256 ай бұрын
There’s no “maybe” that’s definitely what it is. He unconsciously connects the Vagaurdian words he learns with their translations in his language, then immediately re-forgets his version of the word and everything connected to it, including the Vaugardian Translation. “What is this thing?” “It’s a Stuffed Animal, Frin!” (Ah, that’s what it’s called. I remember I had one when I was a kid, but we called them…wait, -when I was a kid?- **The Universe rights itself* what was I talking about? What is this thing?)
@PoyoPowerPlant6 ай бұрын
@@crowsenpai5625 That's definitely a good example, although I'm pretty sure he only forgets those things so abruptly in certain cases relating to his home. In others he might just have a bad memory, since we only have three examples in game of him forgetting on the spot. Sometimes he just forgets words like "sharpening stone" and has to be reminded...just cuz

It's confirmed that it's both because of the country dissapearing, and because of actual normal memory problems that compound onto that! Siffrin forgets the words to things because his brain automatically tries to translate them into his own language Which! Of course! He can't remember! So his brain fills in around it! And that of course grew into normal memory problems COMPUNDED onto the lack of a home or mother language or culture:) Adrienne themself confirmed it through a qna on reddit or Tumblr I believe? All I remember is transcripts of all of the qnas are on the official in stars and time wiki

@@star-aether Gee, so his memory issues really did come from the country's disappearance! Practically all of them. Sad, but very neat to know!

Also, if you let Mirabelle comb your hair a lot. At least 3-4 times, Siffrin starts to wonder why he was so good at brushing difficult hair like Mirabelle's.

I never got any of the malanga fritters stuff because the second time I chose them I realized if I kept doing it siffrin would lose his favorite food My urge to know lore combatted by my love for the main character

It's horrifying to think that for seemingly no reason, an entire continent just... disappeared one day. And no one remembers it even _existing._

It is pretty horrifying to think about. What we know for sure is that someone wished for it, which is why you see a star appear and break when Siffrin and King try to remember their home. My up and running theory as to why someone would wish for the disappearance of an entire country would probably have to do with hate for outsiders. Odile did mention stuff about Craft Wars and failed experiments in another context, which could explain what happened? There was a war somewhere, the citizens wanted to keep their country safe, someone felt that outsiders were a threat and their countrymen who lived among them were traitors, thus they wished to gatekeep the entire country from outsiders. But since the Universe kind of sucks at granting wishes, it went overboard.

I found the hidden room during act 2 and spent the entire rest of the game checking that book every time i was on that floor because I wanted to see if Siffrin would remember more. Nice to see that scene again.

OMG THANK YOU!!! I found this another video with this conversation, and I was soo frustated because I spend around 100 hours in this game and never found this exact room. After that I made a run through the entire House in ACT 2, checked what i thought every torch and hair to see if there a secret door, and I still somehow missed it??? It is such a relief to finally know where it is, God bless you🙏

Do you have to have done something special beforehand to get the scene about running away from home? I went to that room tons of times but unless my memory is as bad as Siffrin's I swear I never got his story about running away in a boat. I always get Bonnie talking about their sister running away and implying it was because their parents were... not the best.
