Jeez no. Have you even heard/seen the original? You know, the one with the ethereal guitar and the heartfelt rending pain in the lyrics all leading slowly up to the most iconic drum break in music? No, you thought, we'll strip all that good stuff out in favor of a bland synthotech beat and a singer who thinks its a lullaby. Pomplamoose has done some awesome covers (7 Nation Army/Eurythmics anyone?) but this is *not* the way forward.

Sorry but no! Whilst I've loved virtually everything Pomplamoose has done over the years and most, but not all, of Scary Pockets, Magaziine is an experiment that hasn't worked. It is bland and anaemic. You are wasting the talents of India, who with Scary Pockets and 'Creep' did perhaps the best cover version of any song I have ever heard.

I also don't know why they changed the cadence of a song by a famous drummer. It sounds good, but just wrong. The low bass is very welcome to build the power and feel, but the beat just does not fit at all.

@@alexcrouse It is very unexpected. And there could have been a place for the drum roll of all drum rolls as a drop after the middle part. But I think it definitely works in this context. @Aaron Schultz Agree. And it really depends what the point of the cover is. These guys like to change it up so on its own it works and whether we like it or not is probably a matter of taste. It’s like The Consouls covering Mute City (from F-Zero) as smooth jazz in complete contrast to the original. You could ask why but equally, why not?
@jimr4354

@@cooldebt sounds like a case of sit on the fencitis. It’s outright elevator music at best. You can’t take the texture out of a song (it’s an angry piece of songwriting)and wrap into some wishwash of bland techno crap sung in a bizarre way and not having relevance to the original content. It just doesn’t work. I hope Phil doesn’t hear it. He’d be appalled.

While it's definitely an interesting take on the song, and I applaud you guys for not being afraid to try and create new narratives when doing your covers, This is one where you really can't do that without essentially killing the very thing that makes the song so memorable. It needs that sort of "I've been obsessively waiting for a chance to take you out" energy, with the sort of empty echo-ness of the vocals that highlights that energy which then comes to a head when the drums go hard near the end. India's voice is lovely, and quite honestly if someone who had never heard the original heard this, I can see it being enjoyed (and maybe that's the demographic you were aiming for with this?). But for anyone who knows the original....it just doesn't really do it justice.

Sometimes different versions are even better than the original but this isn’t one of them. It’s so far off the mark, it’s not funny. It’s a complete non event compared to the original. Real lollipop stuff compared to a compelling piece of songwriting with the bitter undertone to the song with the iconic drum fill to highlight the pent up anger. There’s none of that here.
