Catholicism is DEFINITELY Christianity. In fact, it's basically the original Christian church (denomination). Now, I don't know too much about where this RedStreak40's comment, and I'm sure he must know about his own religion more than I do, but it is my standing that the Coptic Orthodox church split off of the Eastern Orthodox church, which in turn split off of whatever Christianity first was to make the Eastern Orthodox and Catholic churches.
