This game was the Smash Bros ultimate of the Mk 3d era. It felt more like a big celebration than just an ''asset dump'', especially back then. I remember seeing the new aerial combo mechanic at a friend's house thinking how wicked and cool this looked. If you were a fan and got this game, this was heaven.

I remember Deception being my first Mortal Kombat game ever when I was younger (it was also the first video game I ever played) Later on, Armageddon became my second. I remember loading into the game and seeing all of the characters for the first time. I fell in love instantly, and Armageddon was the game that solidified my love for Mortal Kombat as a whole. Granted it’s not a perfect game, but goddamn it, it gave me memories I’ll never forget.

Armageddon is the only Mortal Kombat game that gives me a genuine sense of fear. The ambience creates tension, the atmosphere just reminds me of Twisted Metal Black, and the fact that everyone is dead besides Shao Khan and Raiden is shocking.

I just don't understand why. I literally loved this game. It was so much fun. The move set of the characters was top notch. The way you were able to do the fatalities. The love for Armageddon is real. We still play it online on original ps2's on a fan server. Its very easy to get on. Its also crossplay to pc and mac emulator users and free. Also has a live online rankings leaderboard with real time match updates and history. Motor Kombat wirks online still too. If you ever want help getting your ps2 online let me know. Just need a PS2 with Ethernet port and wired connection. Great vid loved it.

Replaying the 3D era currently, and I have to say that they’re severely underrated. Sure, the Kombat is janky, but if they had (good) online support back in the day, then this kind of jankiness could have been patched and stuff. The base engine of the 3D era is solid and fun as hell.

People tend to forget how rapidly would games come out back then! MK1-4 came out in a 5 year span! And then after a pause, MK5-7 came out in a 4 year span! This meant that each game couldn't just be the same thing with some twist, as they are now, they each had to serve different purposes! You probably wouldn't have unlocked all the krypt by the time the next game came out! You wold basically be playing them side by side, sometimes you'd enjoy the huge roster of Armageddon, but then you'd go back to try and complete all sidequests in Deception's Konquest or something. Armageddon was that game which had all the characters and it was perfectly fine for it to miss other elements because that's what it was! You wanted it to be different! Nowadays is the exact opposite, they release one game every 5 years or so, and people DEMAND for all the characters and features from the previous one to return. Instead of being like "oh let's see what new character they'll introduce!" they are all like "Where is that one character I main? They gotta include him!" Oh and also the "competitive" scene starting to dictate how games were supposed to be made really harmed the art.

I liked the fatality system in mk armageddon, it could be a lot better and it never will replace the classic fatality system, but I think it's fun doing things like the "shish kabob" during a fatality, if they bring it back (something they probably will not do) they should flesh it out more, giving it even more options and also make it another type of finishing move alongside the classic fatality system. By the way, there's a fan game called "Mk shinobi" which literally does that!

I think in defense of the endings, I would use the same logic as changing the fatalities. With so many characters, the amount of unique cutscenes/images for each character's ending would be too much for the game to handle. I dont get why people get mad at a lack of unique fatalities because, to me, it was only good to see maybe two or three times before I got sick of them. Yeah I agree about MK1. While I love the combat, especially the kameo system, there's really not much content apart from multiplayer. Where's tag or challenge tower? I haven't played Armageddon, but it seems like a package of fun, even with the amount of infinites. The story seems good, too. Motor kombat may be interesting, and finally, this game has air combat, which I love. So much more options.

Air cancellation combo into a juggle is my favorite string do to with a KAF character & most of the 62 playable characters in the game too, still haven't learned how to do air cancellation combos with Taven, Jade, or Johnny. Boss characters can do air cancellation combos with a weapon from any stage that had one available, it's so funny & crazy to see them do it, especially Onaga.

I love Armageddon. It’s still my favorite MK Game. If only they put more effort into the fatalities/endings and took their time and didn’t rush it, it could have been a massive hit. I'll say the biggest personal let downs for me in terms of the customization and the like, is the loss of a secondary hand to hand fighting style before weapon, not being able to have other weapons even if the amount of them would be very shallow for your created fighter outside of swords and axes/hammers, or foregoing the weapon entirely on the whole and two if not three hand to hand fighting styles like Smoke, Mokap and Blaze from Deadly Alliance for example, the other part that bothers me is that they greatly simplified the story down to the forces of light and dark I get WHY Midway did it but it feels like it's dumbing down the many different storylines. Another greatly personal irk for me is the carryover of Arrogant Kung Lao from Shaolin Monks into Armageddon when the previous playable version of Lao was still peace loving, and not wanting to resort to violence until needed to do so. Other minor complaints are losses of stages even if there was about 6 stages in Deception that were rehashes of MK 1 and 2. My biggest, most petty gripe was that MK:DA Raiden wasn't a skin option as that was an awesome design that got replaced too quickly. Do I hate Armageddeon? No, It's a decent send off to the series originally but when compare to deception and deadly alliance it is at least in my personal opinion the Bronze Medalist of the 3D Era. The worst MK in my opinion? Launch Week of MK11 that game was unplayable bullshit.

I love it. I enjoy that they scaled back the complex movesets and brought it back to basics. The roster is awesome. I’m also ok with the fatalities, because I always just use the circle button to kill immediately. Unique fatalities are cool, but after I try them a few times, I don’t do them anymore. These are quick kills that honestly makes more sense. A quick neck snap with no theatrics is so satisfying. Add to that, Konquest could’ve been sold as its own game. This is my favorite 3D era MK game. My love for it probably has a lot to do with not caring at all about the competitive scene.

Armageddon is a memorable game in my teenage years and honestly i had a huge blast playing it and revisiting it again like you had so many modes to enjoy with my friends like character creation where both of me and my friend create our own characters with our own memory card and start doing the goofiest stuff while creating bizarre characters or something we liked at the time with the addition of motor kombat being a bloody mario kart with mortal kombat characters was wild and fun as well the konquest was such an amazing side mode given on a silver platter to everyone like a completely different game also all 64 characters from all the games is insane at the time and i don't care much about the fatalities in Armageddon they had their limitations from my understandment when i grew up I'd say just give Armageddon a try and turn your brain off you'll enjoy it so much

Imo: the sole reason why people hate this game is due to one single thing: the Fatalities The rest of the game is decent and it's not so different to MK deception. Graphics wise is the same as MK deception Gameplay is very similar except the fact that in Armageddon you have 3 fighting styles for almost each character (2 unarmed and 1 with a weapon) Konquest mode was pretty nice even if it didn't have an investing story/lore And Kombat Kart was funny side mode. But the "make your fatality" thing was so bad and boring that people blame the entire game for it

MK Armageddon was 75% of my childhood. Playing MK1 was nostalgic for the roster and (somehow) the playthrough. Not only this is the reason why I think MK Armageddon > MK11 but also that MK1 > MK11.

Couldn’t agree more. For whatever reason when mk11 came out I was truly in love with it or even played it much. It just felt so off compared to all of the other mks. Mk1 definitely brought back my love for the series and I’ve been playing the hell out of it! Regardless of that thought Armageddon will always hold a extremely special place in my heart

I grew up on Armageddon as well. I had a 360, I had deadly alliance but it wouldn’t play on the 360, but Armageddon did, so I played it a lot. I personally thought the create a fatality was cool, trying all the different button combinations to see what each thing did was fun to me, and characters with swords could pull those out for fatalities as well.

MK Armageddon is one of My favorites. Is funny that the Game was panned by the air combat system but now that the Air Kombat return in MK1 everyone loves it. The only thing that I do not like about the Game is the endings I used to love MK 3d renders of those games.

I went out of my way for this video based on nostalgia, came across a bunch of videos saying "mortal kombat armageddon bad/broken," so seeing this one amongst all those gave me hope. As someone who thought this one was actually kinda cool, it hurt a little to see everyone hate it. Its a shame that this one is the only one with a character creator tho. I feel like they couldve definitely improved on it in future games rather than just ditching it

I think the only real problem this game had is the fatality system. They could have done atleast 1 fatality for everyone + the personalized one. But this is still my second favorite game of all time, probably bc it was the game I most played. I'm totally biased but this game has so many good things that I don't think it deserves to be hated

armageddon made me like mk again, after mk3 i didnt liked any of the 3d era games, but that konquest mode was a step in the right direction

Most definitely. The other 2 games were alright, deception was definitely the better of the two but Armageddon takes the cake by far

It's funny because the most fun I had playing MK growing up was with MK4 and MK Armageddon. I get the criticism, the lack of fatalities and some characters feel like an afterthought. But you can't deny that it's a fun game
