Resently ran across your videos and I had to comment and tell you how awesome they are. Very well put together and great content. I'm in my early 50s now but as a teenager in northern Indiana I trapped muskrat, fox and basically what we could catch. Back in the early/mid 80s the market obviously was different. Me and a buddy caught mostly muskrat but we caught 1 red fox and got $75.00 for the pelt ( big difference compared to now ). Muskrat if I remember we got $10 or $12 for a decent size rat. I just wanted to say thanks for the videos and keep up the great work.

These Q and A's are a great idea. I was hoping to get your thoughts on a couple of things recently and wasnt sure which video to comment on. Getting on with the questions then. Do you eat anything you trap? If so, any tips or precautions? And what do you do with all the carcasses mid season if the ground is frozen? I'm curious as to what system you've come up with. Thanks for taking the time to read this if ya did.
@elisaunderlin96245 жыл бұрын
Are you able to snare in your area? If so start dropping them in a spot where you can put snares and no one get mad. ( not on piblic ground) you'll start seeing where animals are coming in to eat. Walk the same trail in and out every time. When the snow gets deeper and hard to set steel put your snares in. You'll catch fur. Its one way.

Question for next video.... How does a new trapper get started? I can assume the obvious, but from your eyes and setting ones self up for success.... Do you get a small amount of the same trap, chase one specific critter, keep it small, master the basics before trying to run a 100 set line? Get say some footholds, some coniber, work an area and catch what's in it... etc etc
@rackemwells5 жыл бұрын
Just seems like you need space, a freezer, spare washer, 1/2 dozen knives, a plethora of sized boards for many animals, beaver hoops, 6 conibear 3 330’s 1/2 dozen footholds wire blah blah blah... beginners tackle box could be a $40 rod reel combo, pack of hooks, bobber, worm...
