Because you're wrong. The game sucks. Just because link shows character. Wind waker and skyward sword link have more characters. The story is stupid with a lot of plot holes. Plus the art style is just bland and downright gross with some character designs. This game is a watered down edgy ocarina of time. The only good thing in this game are the few great dungeons and the two characters of midna and zant.

Also, it's not that the Tp Hero could not SAVE Midna, rather he cannot save the world from itself. Midna said it herself to Zelda; "If only all in Hyrule were like you," She felt that it was necessary to separate the Twilight Realm from Hyrule seeing that Zant was so easily swayed by Gannondorf who is from the light. As a result of the two worlds coming together, and taking responsibility of Zants actions of assisting taking over Hyrule, Midna took precautionary measures to ensure that the catastrophe event OF Twilight Princess won't ever happen again. But alias, the world of Twilight would be forgotten despite Midna's words of "Never forget there is a world in Hyrule's shadows". (Sorry, I'm paraphrasing here, and I'll look up the quotes and fix'em up later.)

He deserves his own Hyrule Warriors game as the lead role, the MC, the left-handed protag, the left-handed fighter who's gotta be essential in ev'ry single chapter in the story, AND the one who beats the final boss with a stab again. I'd go with the Ganondorf with the same beard on his face. Link's styles, they all gotta be left-handed 'cuz HE'S left-handed in the canon. AND the manga. He could start with the same green outfit he had in Twilight Princess, the Ordon Sword, AND the Twilight Princess Hylian Shield. Then he could move on with the Twilight Princess Master Sword AND the Skyward Sword Hylian Shield. In ALL his costumes, he's gotta keep his dirty blond hair color AND the style with his hair parted on the right. All his costumes could be references to the Links in the past AND the future (the future that's the now in the Wilds Era. From Link who was Hylia's Chosen Hero in the Goddess Era (with the red cape AND the gold-plated pauldrons), all the way ta Link in Breath o' the Wild (with the Hero o' the Wild set). Link's pose could be the same as the pose the cover fer Link's Awakenin' on the switch, shield on the right arm, sword in the left hand.

Fabian Kirchgessner wouldn’t it be cool if they brought Midna back for the companion role? (Say, when Gannon became a calamity, he managed to create a rip between the light and darkness, which midna made her way through) That way, she could guide this new link and tell him about the hero of twilight overcoming an apocalyptic scenario. That way, our link in BOTW not only has to save the world, but can prove that he is the true hero that this Zelda was hesitant about

Dude, I loved this video. You've made me think about the Hero of Twilight in a light I never had, and I totally agree: THIS is what the Triforce of Courage wielder should be. Self-courage used to inspire the courage in others; a true hero. Fighting because it is your destiny, what you've been trained for, is for Wisdom; fighting because others need you when they have so little else to hold them up is for Courage. Ah, yes, and should mention: Twilight Princess is also my favourite Zelda game. It's so good, man! Wolf Link is awesome, Midna's the best support character because she's an actual character, and the Twilight Realm is just so cool. Oh, and Zant's freaky noise. That alone bumps it up.

This was a beautiful look into the themes of TP and how they tie into link's character arc. And sadly, as a massive fan and defender of TP, this was almost entirely new information to me. I had not considered almost ANY of this. The theming of hope vs fear throughout the game are so obvious in hindsight that I dont know how I missed them. And you have successfully recontextualized pretty much the entire game for me. While I always found the ending of the game to be weird and slightly frustrating, you've changed that now, and now it is so much more heartbreaking in this light. Thank you so much for this video.

Besides saying that The Wind Waker is my all time favorite Zelda game, Twilight Princess has also a special place in my heart. How every person is affected by Link's courage and sacrifice; especially Midna since she at first loathed the Light Realm due to her ancestors being banished and treated Link with scorn slowly grows to care for every people of Hyrule while being fond with Link in helping him through his adventures (there are those few scenes of Midna and Link that are nearly romantic which is what I love). @colossalweeb6 жыл бұрын
Butternut tp is completely bland. It's ocarina of time but edgier. They tried too hard to make this game dark and edgy after the hate wind waker got. Majora's mask's themes and plot is a lot better than tp's and that game didn't even try as much as tp. Tp was made to be the antithesis of the wind waker which explains why it sucks. It was made to please people. Not to create a new fun experience.
@Thierce6 жыл бұрын
I'm not saying its my favorite but I still really appreciate its art style, especially the character design and imo it has the best soundtrack in the entire franchise. In terms of gameplay, its not amazing but they're are some really good dungeons with un mechanics in that game. Anyway, you can keep telling me its bland, edgy and that it sucks but honestly you didn't even speak about the game itself, just the marketing that went behind it.
@colossalweeb6 жыл бұрын
Butternut no I'm talking about the art style and storytelling. The art style can look kinda good at some points. Link and zelda look alright. Midna and zant look awesome. But everyone else looks disgusting. This weird realistic looking cartoon characters just have an uncanny valley look to them. Enemies look good. Just some deviantartist's dark rendition of classic zelda villains. The game just screams "this is not wind waker take us more seriously please!" This is ironic as this game has zero depth outside of midna and zant. Compared to windwaker where there are so many characters that you can fall in love with. The entirety of tetra's pirate crew, medli, makar, the king of red lions, even link and ganondorf. Wind waker ganondorf has drive behind him compared to tp ganon who is a generic bad guy who shows up at the end of the game. Plus so many plot holes... this is the weakest zelda behind zelda 2. And if skyward sword is better than you. you've done something wrong
@Thierce6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, tbh I really don't care about the story in Zelda games, it's always kinda bad and generic imo. As for how the characters look, you might find them disusting but I actually really like their designs, I like how goofy and disproportionate they look, to me it made them memorable and gave them more personnality. WW had very memorable artstyle and character design as well, and I like WW a lot, but imo it had some of the weakest dungeons in 3D Zelda history so I prefer TP. As for Skyward Sword, I think its a great game, the dungeons were some of my favorite, and despite being very linear, the overworld is filled with puzzles and obstacles making each area feel like its own big, outdoors dungeon. My only gripe with Skyward Sword is Fi interrupting you all the time. Look, my point wasn't that TP is perfect, simply that to me, BOTW wasn't as enjoyable as any of the other 3D Zelda games.

Very good video! I have always thought that, out of all the Zeldas, Twilight Princess' story was the easiest to follow. And I don't mean the plot (maybe one of the most complicated out of all the Zeldas), I mean the motivation--The reason you keep picking the controller up and venturing into Hyrule through TP. It had a strong protagonist that you could really believe was determined to see the quest through to the end. As cheerful as SS Link was, I think TP Link will always be my favorite just for his determination and ability to bring people together.

I personally prefer hero of time. More because if you think about it, he got messed up. Gets thrusted abruptly into saving hyrule. Sees the father? figure of the kokiri and most liklely himself die in front of him. Get aged 7 years(ouch, one moment your a kid, the next your now past puberty) has to fight much more, then get sent back in time, never to be remembered for his heroic deeds outside of what he told the hyrule royal family. Then gets lost in the woods and has to go through multiple days of the moon almost smashing into the ground. Probably the most traumatized hero.

@binusbechbips7586 жыл бұрын
Yea I'd say he's one of the most tragic heroes, I would say that the responsibilities thrusted to him at a young age matured him faster than other Links, understanding dark subtleties in life which shows in Majora's mask when he helps everyone selflessly, putting aside his initial journey to find Navi. I also love how they made him a mysterious figure as the hero's shade, fans have been wondering for a long time what he went through after Majora's mask, even asking for another sequel about the hero of time. I'd also like to imagine that he also helped extend the hyrule borders in Twilight Princess.

I remember when I was just a kid, finishing the game and watching Midna leave, I just about teared up. It felt like the world couldn’t resist taking just one more dig at the (as you rightly point out) most consistently punished protagonist Zelda has ever seen. I definitely need to check out your other videos soon. Truly quality stuff; you’ve gained a subscriber in me, my friend!
@lindenbree91886 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure I'd say he doesn't save the world on his own... it's like most Zelda games, you get information from someone, use said information to do hero stuff, and get closer to beating the game. So they "helped" you, but it's not like you worked with them. You use them as an information spring board, tell them nothing, and then go do stuff. It's the same as reading info out of a book really, for all the communication Link doesn't do. Like that guy with the book translating, if I recall, Link never tells him that he found the city in the sky and all that. He uses the guy to get info, and doesn't discuss anything with him. I think Link is basically still doing this on his own, because the help he gets is mostly from walking encyclopaedias he doesn't have a dialogue with. He might as well have actually read an encyclopaedia. He was still pretty much on his own solving the problems. So I have trouble believing Link was never alone solving these things. There was SOME help, like the monkeys, oocaa, light spirits, but it wasn't every step of the way. Unless you count Midna, as she literally is there every step of the way. With the gorons and zora, it's like many other Zelda games, you're forced to resolve their shit to get the whatever to save the world. Far from helping you, they're essentially obstacles to getting what you need done. All that said though, I do agree that Link in this game inspires people. Not that that's unique to TP, but it might be the game with the heaviest focus on that. The development Collin goes through is so precious and I love it ;-; I also agree this game has a habit of screwing you over whenever things are looking up

Majora's Mask is also a great game, I respect your opinion on that, but Twilight Princess will always be better. And thus, this is my opinion, and you must respect it. First of, Imp Midna doesn't have a hot ass. Like, I didn't even realize she had one. Two, I've played this game in 2012 when I was quite young, so it's not because I 'wanted' the game that I like it. Mangas aren't canon to the actual game, and its has also been confirmed that Link and Malon from OoT did get married and Link from TP is their decendant which explains why he lives in a village and works at a ranch

Commenter from the future here to report, that TP manga Link is probably the best interpretation of Link I have ever seen. The manga is currently up to volume 7 in the west, give it a read when y'all have the chance.

I love skyward sword Link. For me, he is very much imaginative (sort of), depending on the choices, he is either kind or out right SASSY, he loves animals, birds if nothing else, helpful, emotional, a good judge of character, patient if he cares enough. He has a reason to be good with a sword, has a TRUE REASON to safe the world. NOBODY IS KIND ENOUGH TO GO UP AGAINST A FUCKING UNKNOWN LAND FOR PEOPLE! This Link is also the 'first Link' who doesn't have other Link's to look up to. He just goes for it, showing the truest bravery. He does have flaws... such as wanting attention a lot more (if you are one of the people that does every possible mission.) wanting attention more than the other Link's. And the fact he lived with his head in the clouds means that he in fact wants better for HIMSELF, a rational amount of selfishness. As well as his love for attention, Link is fairly much like all of us, pretty awkward. Seen as someone who only speaks when he has the need to and as often going unnoticed around. He also has options that show some sort of difficulty with things that he hasn't trained to do or is not interested in. As well as all this, Link is shown as someone to make very rash and bold decisions based on his emotional state, although most prominent indication of that is Link's automatic reaching out for Zelda while the most logical way to go about it is to try to get her out an another way. Speaking of which, Skyward Sword Link is not overly rational but is in no way stupid either. But rather than being led by his brain, he is led by his heart, which may be a good thing in a social situation but for Link, someone training to be a knight, that's in no way a good thing at all. Seeing as a knight is shown as someone rational and able to take a more logical approach rather than having the heartfelt response Link naturally has. Link, as much as Groose sounds like a stereotypical bully by saying it, has a lot of flaws as he (Groose), very openly, points out. And most of these flaws are clearly a soft spot for Link, which makes it tons more interesting. As most of us know, everyone has flaws. While I like Twilight Princess Link, I find him overly easy to like. That kid who gets along with EVERYONE. It's weird in my opinion since he isn't a personality shifting person, everyone around him is just so alike to him and those who aren't, like Link because he is a hero.

I actually agree with you, twilight princess is my favorite Zelda game. The characters are alive, the struggle feels more personal than any other game, you SEE growth and fatigue on the characters. Midna is my favorite character, while it's hard to see through her playful personality, you see her grow from a bitter imp, angry about what happened to her and her people. To a leader who sees both sides of the coin, now knowing that they where locked in the twilight realm for the good of both. Even falling in love, a love true enough to sacrifice her happiness for...

TP is my favourite Zelda game too, and I never thought about it like this before, the true nature of Link's power in that incarnation, and also of Midna's losing to her own fear and isolating her people. The repercussions of this are great, and show that she has not learnt nearly enough from the ordeal. Thank you for your earnest video!

Thank you so much for this video, seriously. I never thought that I could love this game even more but, you showed me the opposite. You got deep into every characters' mind and I saw some things that I never thought about before, that's why I always desagree with people who are saying that Link doesn't have any personality, that he's just an empty shell for the player to see themselves as the hero, Link is a character much more deeper than that, and the fact that he isn't even talking adds a genius point for Nintendo. We aren't just controlling a random boy that happens to be the protagonist, we are the hero through *Link* .

I remember playing Twilight Princess and absolutely loving every moment of it, loving the melancholic aspect of it, after the cartoonish fun that Wind Waker had been. And then, a bit later, around the time when Skyward Sword was announced, I ran upon people's opinion of TP and they were like "eh... it wasn't very good" and I was like "WHAAAAAT?Why?" the answer: people were just generally shitting on the Wii, the motion controls, and anything associated with it. Such a shame...

I played TP when I was too young to see all the depth it had. Watching this was very very interesting. You did a very good job on the storytelling, I enjoyed listening a lot and I'm thankful for the new perspectives I now have for this game. What an emotional ending this game actually has. The friend that was always by his side, being the one he probably cared about the most, being the one he fails to save. I always felt sad that they parted ways back then as a child as well, but I did not know about this perspective back then, it makes it a lot more emotional than it already was.

I still wanted NieR Automata to win, but Breath of The Wild was pretty good, just didn't liked much the Divine Beast dungeons that felt very samey... The way you was approaching the dungeons was more fun than the dungeons themselves.
@KingJGrim6 жыл бұрын
I absolutely agree that the dungeons in BoTW are way weaker than the previous 3D Zelda ones, but the Switch game has this way of having 3 positives for every negative, so... crossing my fingers that they'll take the feedback from the fans to heart when making their next Project!
@IronianKnight6 жыл бұрын
Perfect way to describe BotW, really. The way you approach it is more fun than the gameplay itself.
@Yarzu5556 жыл бұрын
I think BotW's greatest strength is it managed to make a world so immersive and a game so fun to explore that you simply didn't care about the flaws, which there were sure. I can honestly say I like all the Zelda games (never played 2 or skyward Sword to be fair) but they each bring something to the table and I think BotW killed it with innovation, exploration and immersion. I do miss my thematic dungeons though... played Link between worlds a few weeks before BotW came out so I at least got that itch scratched.

The two greatest Links are the Hero of Time for keeping his composure and not smashing Navi against a wall, and TP Link for staying focused and not *smashing* Midna. Lord knows we'd all have smashed. Stupid, curvy, sassy, naked imp...

Another thing that is really cool about twilight princess is that the skeletal warrior that trains you is the link from ocarina of time.He alludes to this fact many times by saying stuff like "I was the hero of my time". I believe Nintendo even confirmed that the warrior was the link from ocarina of time.

This is why I love Twilight Princess, it's a masterpiece of a story and doesn't get as much tension as it deserves it's a long game, that's mostly what turned people off it's like reading a 800 page novel but it's a video game, this video sums it all up and simplified what makes this game a masterpiece, I hope this video goes viral and you get as much attention for your demonstration of this, Exelent video, nice jokes good enthusiasm and most importantly able to understand, good job and keep up the work you deserve it :)
